Fabergé’s Historic Return to London’s Mayfair and Launches in New York and at Harrods

BY PRESS RELEASE / Nov 23, 2011

For the first time in almost a century, Fabergé returns with a new home in the heart of London’s prestigious jewellery area, at 14A Grafton Street in Mayfair, approximately half way between the original Dover and Bond street stores.

Due to the repatriation of Russian resources at the beginning of the First World War, the last Fabergé store in London (of which the illustrious H C Bainbridge was manager) closed in 1915. That store, then located at 173 Bond Street, was a renowned destination visited by royalty, nobility, potentates, tycoons, socialites and connoisseurs from around the world. Fabergé first opened in London in 1906 at 48 Dover Street, moving to Bond Street in 1910.

The new store features a special and striking lilac façade for the festive season, evoking the guilloche and enamel techniques for which Fabergé was renowned. The distinctive interior - warm, evocative and modern - is a seamless fusion of old and new.

Fabergé is further pleased to announce that its jewellery and watch collections are now available at the world famous Harrods in Knightsbridge.

In New York, Fabergé has secured a new home at 694 Madison Avenue, which will open officially in spring 2012. In the interim, Fabergé will host special seasonal “by appointment” previews at an iconic New York location from 28th November 2011 until 30th December 2011.

Fabergé’s Managing and Creative Director, Katharina Flohr, said;

We are thrilled to open the doors to the first Fabergé boutique in London since 1915. This is an important moment for us and for Fabergé to continue Peter Carl Fabergé’s legacy of exquisite creations and outstanding craftsmanship.

Fabergé continues to attract a customer base of discerning devotees, seeking special personal possessions and gifts which illuminate the captivating world of Fabergé, linking past, present and future.

The new locations carry selections from the key Fabergé collections, including:

  • The jewellery collections ‘Les Fabuleuses de Fabergé’, ‘Saisons Russes’, ‘Le Carnet Bal’ and the ‘Solyanka Treasures’;
  • ‘Les Fameux de Fabergé’, the virtuoso one-of-a-kind high jewellery egg pendants;
  • ‘Les Favorites de Fabergé’, the exquisite and emotive collection of fine jewellery egg pendants, with a repertoire of around 60 different designs, rekindling the tradition of Fabergé as gifts for special occasions; and
  • ‘Fabergé Horlogerie’, the collection of handmade men’s and women’s watches featuring the famed guilloche and enamel techniques.
