2014 Bishop's Peak Chardonnay, San Luis Obispo County

The 2014 vintage marked the third year of the California drought. Warm and dry conditions resulted in the earliest harvest start date, August 1, in the history of Talley Vineyards. At 9 inches, total rainfall was less than 50% of the average for Coastal San Luis Obispo County. Ideal growing conditions during bloom time in the spring afforded excellent fruit set with very little mildew or botrytis pressure during the remainder of the season. The wines produced in 2014 share many of the characteristics that made the 2012 and 2013 vintages so appealing:  charm, elegance and balance.

- Produced from chardonnay grapes grown in cool Coastal San Luis Obispo County
- Whole-cluster pressed and fermented with native yeast in stainless steel and neutral French oak barrels
- Hand-harvested August 22 - September 18, 2014
- No malolactic fermentation
- Aged sur lie in stainless steel and neutral French oak barrels
- Bottled in April of 2015

Pale gold in color, the 2014 vintage of Bishop's Peak Chardonnay expresses beautiful aromas of white flower, roasted nuts, and fresh pear. The palate is suave and complex, with notes of salinity and juicy pineapple, finishing with bright notes of tart lemon. Enjoy the 2014 Bishop's Peak Chardonnay with fresh steamed mussels or pan seared flounder.
