Quite simply put, there are two important aspects to poker: luck and skill. One can be learned while the other is unpredictable, to say the least, and I am not going to tell you which one is which. While there are thousands of poker players pitting their luck and skill against each other every day, this list is about the select few who have perfected their craft to such an extent that winning millions of dollars from a single tournament isn’t even something extraordinary for them anymore.

Some are extravagant playboys while others are prodigal scholars. However, they do have one thing in common. Yes, they are all filthy rich poker players, but with US gambling industry research indicating that online gambling is making a comeback, it might not be too long before we see more names on this list.

Chris Ferguson ($25 Million)

The controversial Chris Ferguson has a Ph.D. in virtual network algorithms from UCLA and he comes from a family of gifted and intelligent individuals. Ferguson actually comes to the table dressed like a cowboy and that has been his gimmick for a long time now. In addition to winning multiple tournaments around the world, the 50+ poker player currently holds five World Series of Poker bracelets to his name. He is one of the richest and cleverest poker players out there, but he also came into the limelight for cutting through carrots and melons by throwing cards at them!

Phil Ivey ($100 Million)

Phil Ivey is so rich that nobody really knows what he is worth. He might just sit on top of this list for all we know! Nevertheless, unofficial sources claim that the ten-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner is probably worth somewhere around the $100 million mark. Ivey has appeared in nine finals of the World Poker Tour and has won once. Often hailed as the “Tiger Woods of Poker,” Phil Ivey is also a successful businessman and a philanthropist.

Dan Bilzerian ($150 Million)

Remember the playboy we mentioned at the beginning? Dan Bilzerian is that playboy and so much more. The muscular, good-looking poker player, also known as “Blitz” is the undisputed king of poker, with a net worth of $150 million+. However, he is more into his online poker room Victory Poker nowadays than actually participating in tournaments. Dan Bilzerian is so famous for his wealth, womanizing habits, controversies and unusual acts that even people who have no idea about the world of poker have heard of him. Consider the following little tidbits about him to get an idea of what we are talking about here.

  • He ‘almost’ qualified as a Navy Seal
  • He suffered three heart attacks before he was 32 years old, likely because of substance abuse
  • He has been sued multiple times for brawls
  • One of the most humorous poker players on Twitter (as per Bluff Magazine)
  • He loves fast cars, guns, and women, exactly like every other clichéd rich playboy

With more and more people joining the game and discovering their skills online, online poker is a growth industry. Have you got what it takes to be the next Dan Bilzerian, Chris Ferguson, or Phil Ivey?
