As you may have admired with our first ArtyA Purity Tourbillon Chameleon,

ArtyA is currently developing Nano-sapphire cases capable of changing color depending on the light. The new version features a Nano-sapphire case that maximizes the visibility of the skeletonized ArtyA Shams movement (available in green or steel).

We always hear what the great new color is for every year. Last year, it was green. Before, blue was the new black. This year, ArtyA is turning this notion on its head. For the first time ever, ArtyA brings Nano-Sapphire technology into the watch industry to change the color of the sapphire crystal case itself.In natural light (even if it’s cloudy), the case has a blue color, but when exposed to artificial light (6500K or above), the case instantly and completely changes color to a translucent, mysterious green.

This new technology has never been used beforeand is exclusive to ArtyA, for the Purity Tourbillon Chameleon and now, for the ArtyA Shams Chameleon.

 As an independent, self-funded watch company, ArtyA is very proud to be able to present this incredible breakthrough in the very competitive field of high watchmaking.

The new ArtyA Nano-Sapphire watch case is an optically transparent polycrystalline material that is formed by the crystallization of glass with a unique chemical composition, and the result greater physical and chemical properties than the original glass.

This material is one of many glass-ceramic materials, which have been around for more than 50 years and have a wide range of compositions and applications, using a multi-component high temperature composition on the base of two main oxides – SiO2 and Al2O3. These oxides are key components of most natural gemstones. A temperature of 1700 °C. (compared to 700°C for glass) is needed to synthesize this material, and only one company in the world has adapted this existing technology to create a material specifically optimized for watches and jewelry. And ArtyA is the first company to use it in a watch case.

This case material has incredible hardness, 7 on Mohs scale, which is much higher than glass (5 on the Mohs scale), which guarantees the durability of this incredible case material. 

Latest Edition of ArtyA’s Son of a Gears is the ArtyA Shams Chameleon, featuring a full Nano-Sapphire crystal case, changing color, in order to maximize the see trough effect of our exclusive ArtyA Shams skeletonized movement. The aim of a skeleton is to reveal the movement, workings and mechanical beauty in all their glory. 

The work has been difficult but the result is simply amazing, powerful, elegant and timeless.

Fully transparent, the Nano-Sapphire case has nothing to hide and plenty to show. This quest for transparency takes to the extremes the skeletonizing of the movement and enhances the astonishing beauty of its intricate spirit. Each part of the movement is delicately beveled and polished by hand. In addition, the skeletonized bridges were subjected to intensive and complete validation tests to optimize their resistance capacities

This incredible breakthrough using Nano-Sapphire color-changing technology is an innovation second to none in the history of the watch industry, while at the same time ArtyA continues to focus on refining traditional Swiss high watchmaking.
