The fashion industry is all about having an exceptional look, pushing the boundaries and showcasing something unique and different. But at the same time, it can also be a rather restrictive industry. There are specific requirements for models, and they have to reshape their look and body in order to match those requirements. A lot of the time, those requirements can be rather brutal, and they take their toll on a model’s body.
Viktoriia Osadchuk is a model that knows that very well. Over the years, she has been focused on the idea of enhancing her look as she tried to fit that mold the fashion industry requires from models. But the truth is, things have indeed changed. Nowadays, it becomes a lot easier and more interesting than ever to be a fashion model.
There are obviously different reasons behind this. But a lot of the time, it has to do with the culture and how people feel about things. But nowadays, the fashion industry realizes that great profits can be made without forcing models to be someone they aren’t.
Having less restrictions and bringing body positivity has managed to change the beauty norms. All of a sudden, models can have a normal diet, live a less restrictive life, and still represent fashion houses and businesses. It’s a great opportunity to break past those norms. And at the same time, it also allows models to enter that journey of self-acceptance. Most of us have dealt with some type of challenges as we tried to get past those challenges we encountered.
But at the end of the day, in order to get the paystub, we always try to do whatever the company we work with asks from us. Yes, it will be a tricky situation and a challenge, but at the same time, it also brings unique benefits in the long term.
With body positivity, now models get to do their work and not worry about being judged in any way. Now we have plus size models, disabled models, curvy models and so on.
One of the good things that body positivity does is it helps offer more opportunities to models, regardless of their look. Sure, decades ago, it was very strict on how a model should look, and that did continue for many years. But in the 21st century, things have changed quite a lot. Granted, there are still fashion houses and companies that focus on the older mindset.
However, things have changed quite a lot, and they will continue to evolve. It always comes down to understanding the various challenges that appear and how the world is changing. It’s more important to accept people the way they are, focus on embracing who we are, and that’s why models thrive in the world of body positivity. This also sends a great message, showing that you should be comfortable in your body and not worry about the way other people think.
Obviously, this does help a lot of models to showcase who they are, bring in a unique perspective into the mix, and just focus on themselves for a change. Granted, challenges will be in any niche, no matter where you are and who you are. However, the idea of body positivity has improved the modeling industry, and that removed a lot of the restrictions. Plus, we have the opportunity to just show what we believe and how we can support people in our own way. It’s stuff like that which helps define the industry, and it pushes the limits in a very innovative manner.
These days, we all know that understanding life and adapting to it can indeed make a difference. We also have to realize that society is changing, and size diversity is a thing. We must learn to adjust, adapt and study things in order to obtain the best opportunities. As we delve into the middle of the 3rd decade of this century, we continue to expand, find out new things, and become a more inclusive society.
There’s a lot more focus on acceptance, understanding everyone, and enjoying great opportunities. Of course it’s not going to be a walk in the park, but it’s certainly important to grasp what the audience wants. And in this case, we have a much larger audience than what we had before. It’s all up to knowing how to adapt, implement things, and pushing the limits in a very innovative manner.
Plus, this also means that companies have to pay attention. Realistically, if you don’t embrace the idea of body positivity, your business could very well pay the price. While there will be very challenging situations, your business needs to learn and adapt, otherwise you will end up losing people’s interest and attention. That type of diversity and unique ideas will always push the limits, and you always want to adapt and enhance things in a very creative manner.
If you can focus on body positivity-infused marketing campaigns, do that as well. People appreciate that sort of thing, and it shows their interest. Will it be difficult to bring such ideas to fruition? Absolutely, but you have to bring in a unique perspective, push the boundaries and enhance the process as much as possible.
Every model will tell you that being in the industry is not easy, and it can be quite the struggle. Thanks to body positivity, though, you have the option to finally focus on yourself and embracing who you are. Yes, it is a very difficult time, and it has demanding challenges. But at the end of the day, you have to understand that body positivity is a great thing, and it offers amazing potential to those that embrace it!
