The Bordeaux Wine Council (CIVB) has announced its participation in the inaugural Harlem EatUp! festival. The four-day festival, May 14-17, was co-founded by Marcus Samuelsson and Herb Karlitz, and celebrates the food, culture and spirit of Harlem while paying homage to its roots and cultural fabric.

"We're delighted to be part of Harlem EatUp!. Just as Harlem has established a renaissance of culinary exploration and modernization, Bordeaux is also undergoing its own voyage of re-discovery to reflect the emergence of young, innovative winemakers working to transform the region and its wines," said Mary Gorman-McAdams, MW, Market Advisor to the CIVB. "Bordeaux wines have always been recognized for their place at the table within the context of celebration and festivity. Harlem EatUp! is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the even greater depth, accessibility and affordability of Bordeaux wines, with the vast range of cuisine that Harlem EatUp! will provide, such as African, Asian, BBQ, Soul and Latin fare."

As the official festival wine sponsor, Bordeaux Wines will provide distinct wine pairings for the festival's Dine In Harlem events – a one-night-only dining experience which pairs select Harlem restaurants (including The Cecil, Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, and Vinateria) with national chefs who share in their admiration for Harlem (including Jonathan Waxman, Paul Qui, Ludo Lefebvre). The collaboration will result in original multi-course dinners paired with delicious, affordable red, white and sweet Bordeaux wines.

"We are thrilled to have The Bordeaux Wine Council 'Vins de Bordeaux' on board as the official wine sponsor for the Harlem EatUp! Dine-In series," said Herb Karlitz, Harlem EatUp! Co-founder. "The Francophiles of Harlem will rejoice as the wines are a fitting complement to the jazz music and vibrant culture here."
