Spas and wellness centres are designed to evoke emotions and ensure a sensory experience. Therefore, the tiles used play an essential role in creating comfortable and cosy spaces where water takes centre stage either energetically or softly.
Wet areas and surfaces immersed in water require materials with specific technical features. That’s why Casalgrande Padana has developed porcelain stoneware tile collections for safe, anti-slip floors and walls that stand out for their beautiful colours and technical features, are easy to clean, and even have antibacterial properties (thanks to the Bios Antibacterial® technology, available upon request).
In addition to Elementi and Landscape – the two collections designed for walls and the inside of pools – Casalgrande Padana has selected a set of collections that meet all aesthetic, durability, and safety requirements, paying special attention to barefoot slip resistance, so important for wet areas and surfaces immersed in water.
These collections – Amazzonia, Boulder, Chalon, Country Wood, Eco Concrete, Marte, Mineral Chrom, Newood, Petra, Pietra Baugè, and Pietre di Sardegna – come with mosaics, decorative tiles, and trims for the walls and bottom of thermal pools and the outside of indoor and outdoor pools, thereby ensuring maximum versatility and customisation.
Casalgrande Padana’s other porcelain stoneware tile collections are perfect for other areas, including locker rooms, showers, wellness areas, and even snack areas, relaxation areas, and waiting rooms. In particular, the new Atelier, Brickworks Nuances, Brickworks Petra, and Brickworks Muretto are the ideal choice for the walls of these areas.
Removing bacteria from the surfaces of wet leisure and wellness centres is essential to prevent mould yeast, fungi, and odours.
To this end, Casalgrande Padana has developed Bios Antibacterial®, an exclusive silver-based treatment that helps eliminate 99% of bacteria from the tiles’ surfaces. This antibacterial treatment is incorporated permanently into the porcelain stoneware tiles. It’s always active, in the light and dark, and doesn’t need UV radiation to be activated.
Bios Antibacterial® uses a technology based on silver ions, which removes bacteria and prevents their proliferation by inhibiting bacterial metabolism. In particular, laboratory tests have shown that Bios Antibacterial® can remove 99% of the four main bacterial strains (Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa). In addition to its bactericidal properties, Bios Antibacterial® prevents mould, yeasts, and fungi, ensuring salubrious spaces that are also pleasant to the nose even if there’s no light.
The treatment is irreversibly embedded into the tiles before they are fired, becoming an integral part of them and ensuring maximum effectiveness over time.
Casalgrande Padana porcelain stoneware tiles are one of the most advanced and versatile solutions that sustainable architecture offers. That’s because the porcelain stoneware they are made of is made solely with natural raw materials, free of plastics and harmful substances. As a result, they are fully recyclable, fire-resistant, non-allergenic, and remain unchanged over time. In addition, they have excellent flexural strength and resistance to abrasion, chemicals, chlorine. They are also non-absorbent and easy to install, clean, and maintain.
Casalgrande Padana porcelain stoneware tiles are made through a closed-cycle manufacturing process where sophisticated antipollution equipment allows all the components to be recycled and reused with substantially zero emissions or dispersions: 0% harmful emissions, 100% environmental impact reduction, 99.5% waste recovered, 74% self-produced energy, and 100% environmentally sustainable packaging.
This cutting-edge production process focuses on sustainability, scientific research, and the best environmental experiences. It also aims at reducing pollution as much as possible to protect the landscape and territorial balance. This commitment is demonstrated by Casalgrande Padana’s many certifications, including the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) and ISO 14001 certifications. But also by the company’s Code of Ethics, which regulates the environmental policies related to its production cycle, and its environmental management system compliant with the EMAS Regulation to improve its environmental performance. Casalgrande Padana has also published an environmental statement validated by the certification body.
Nature, comfort, and wellness, but also safety and durability: the perfect combination of technology and modern aesthetic that adds value to any investment and architectural project in the wellness sector.
