Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research (Rally) announced that the Delta Double Play weekend of events, featuring the Benefit Bash gala on Nov. 10 at the Georgia Aquarium and the Brian McCann Rally Celebrity Softball Game on Nov. 11 at 6-4-3 DP Athletics, raised more than $1 million dollars to fund childhood cancer research.
Houston Astros Catcher and 2017 World Series Champion Brian McCann and his wife Ashley served as the honorary event chairs for the Delta Double Play weekend of events, and Delta Air Lines stepped up to the plate to sponsor the weekend for the eighth year in a row.
Since 2007, Ashley and Brian McCann have helped Rally raise more than $5 million dollars to fund childhood cancer research through the Delta Double Play, Rally's signature fall fundraising event.
"We are so grateful for the continued support of Ashley and Brian McCann as our honorary chairs for this event and our wonderful title sponsor Delta Air Lines, who are huge champions for all kids fighting cancer," said Dean Crowe, Rally founder and CEO. "Their generous support enables the Delta Double Play weekend to raise more funds for childhood cancer research every year. This year was no exception as we raised more than $1 million throughout the event for the first time ever. Everyone who came out to the Bash and game made it a special experience for our Rally Kids."
During the Benefit Bash, Ed Bastian, CEO of Delta Air Lines, presented the 2017 Rally for Research Award to Michael Gossling and Philip Gossling, the founders of DoMyOwn.com. This award is given in recognition of their generous commitment, inspiration and support of Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research.
