One of the main objects that should be taken care of during relocations are works of art, since they are extremely delicate objects, and, depending on the material, the care can be different. For this reason, you should know which are the essential recommendations to avoid damaging this type of belongings.

During a move, many things must be taken into account, not only the planning, financial area, time and space organization, but also the delicate and luxury items to be stored, packed and moved, since, during the moving process, they could suffer some kind of unfavorable damage for the owners.

Delicate objects include any type of household appliances, glassware, furniture, books and works of art. The latter is considered one of the most important because in addition to having a visual use, it might also have a high monetary value. This is one of the reasons to take the utmost care of this type of household goods.

But, how should works of art be cared for and moved during a relocation?

Many homes have works of art, whether they are paintings, sculptures or anything else that decorates the house, but when the time comes to move, this object could cause problems if the care that should be taken when moving it from one destination to another is not perfectly understood.

So, these types of goods require extra care because of the subtlety and value they possess. That is why it should be given due importance as a fundamental and main object of the home.

So, what should you do?
  • The first step is to determine if the work of art has the right size to be placed in boxes, but not just any box, a wooden box that will support and protect it from any inconvenience that could happen.
  • On the other hand, according to the material of the work of art, it can be -or not- wrapped to continue protecting the object in any way.
  • The space inside the box could also be conditioned to create a special support in case it moves, leaving the artwork sufficiently adjusted so that there is no room for shocks.

What about transportation?

The most advisable way to move works of art during a personal move is by land, since this is the most favorable and controlled option available. In the case of an international move, air transport may be required, since this method is safer than sea transport or any other.

In the event that the move is by land, several important factors must be taken into account, such as:

  • All clients must agree on the routes. It is important that they are safe and agreed with the company, in this way it is possible to have total control of the transfer.
  • Be attentive to the steps that may be taken, such as arrival and departure, customs, among others.
  • All moving trucks must be isothermal, since some works of art require air conditioning to keep them at a certain temperature, and also pneumatic suspension to reduce vibrations.
  • The moving vehicle must have an alarm system control and fire detection, as well as a fire extinguishing system.
