Golf tourism will be worth $33.6 billion by 2032, indicating the major pulling power that top-level golf courses have for discerning players from across the globe. An area as small as the Coachella Valley in California has a whopping 110 golf courses in a 10-mile radius of Palm Springs, meaning each of these courses has to offer something special to keep players interested. These days, five-star golf courses no longer have to offer a great day’s play on well-designed courses overlooking the sea or stunning landscapes. They also have to offer gastronomy, entertainment, and resort features that make them ideal destinations for the whole family. Below are three that have managed to capture all that and more. 


Costa Navarino in Messinia, Greece 
This resort is known as one of the top golf resorts in Europe, as it offers a top-class golf experience with its four 18-hole golf courses. Its Dunes Course boasts spectacular sea and river views and is thus named because the course is separated from the sea by dreamlike dunes. There are a myriad of hotels within the resort, two of which are five-star hotels—The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resorts and The Westin Resort. The Romanos has a host of features to keep guests entertained, including 128 infinity pools, 12 restaurants, a 4,000m² spa, and proximity to the pristine sea. The Westin, meanwhile, has 113 family suites, a beachfront location, a spa with treatments based on ancient wisdom, organized activities for kids, and authentic experiences such as learning how to cook authentic Greek food. The resort is sizeable but high-tech golf karts are available to take you from course to course. Of course, the carts also come in handy if you’re staying at one resort but prefer to sample the fare at another one.

 
The Four Seasons in Hualalai, Hawaii
A five-star beachfront resort with a championship course boasting unique black lava features and gorgeous oceanfront holes. This resort has a gold house where practice with state-of-the-art simulator technologies and take lessons from top golf teachers. It offers guests everything from high-end spa treatments to ocean adventures and culinary fests. Activities to enjoy include humpback whale waiting, snorkeling, and elegant wine dinners on the beach.

 
Mission Hills in Haikou, Hainan, China
A stunning resort with over 500 five-star rooms, as well as 10 golf courses and Asia’s largest mineral springs and spa center. It occupies a lava-rock-strewn landscape with ancient trees and wetlands and has much to offer families wishing to have fun and play golf. Features include 12 dining spots, an impressive recreation center, a shopping arcade, a luxury spa, and an outdoor water park where kids can splash around for hours. This resort was opened as the nucleus of a plan to make Hainan the sports and leisure capital of Asia, so watch out for many more developments along the way!
