The Highlife Ladies Automatic Sparkling, a major success in 2021, is back in a brand-new version of which just 888 will be made. The sky-blue dial includes glints of stardust; the bezel gleams with a host of diamonds; the hours are marked off on a bejewelled chapter ring. Not for nothing is the Highlife Ladies Automatic dubbed the ‘Sparkling’: housed in an understated 34mm steel case, the timepiece captures all the magic of space. Ready for formal wear with its integrated steel strap, or more casual dress with a second, interchangeable cloud-white rubber strap, this creation will shine on any woman’s wrist.
Since its major comeback three years ago, the Highlife collection has established itself at the forefront of the Geneva-style elegance so dear to Frederique Constant. Introduced in 2021, the Ladies version distils all the right style notes into a magnificent little piece of watchmaking: a delicately curved round case, a highly circumspect diameter of just 34mm, a finely decorated Swiss Made automatic movement (visible through a sapphire caseback), and a robust, flexible
integrated steel strap together with an additional rubber strap.
This year, the Highlife Ladies Automatic Sparkling sports a new, bright, powerful sky-blue colour on the dial that’s anything but bland: the piece being all about stardust and the heavens, its dial is strewn with subtle silver fragments amid the sky blue, forming a gently sparkling skyscape that twinkles in the sunlight.
Indeed, the watch will sparkle at any time of day or night. By day, its bezel elegantly counts the minutes off: sixty 0.50-carat diamonds adorn the rim, round which sweeps a luminous, silverplated, hand-polished hand. Its partner signals the passing hours with reference to eight starlike diamonds, arrayed two by two in the four quadrants of the dial. Between each pair, ever-sosubtle luminous appliqué hour markers add a refined gleam after sundown. And before the Earth completes a revolution, the discreet date window placed at 3 o’clock will have announced the arrival of a brand new day.
The original Highlife collection was one of the first to offer an integrated strap system; now the strap is interchangeable, too, and still one of the winning features on the Highlife Ladies Automatic Sparkling: no tools and just a few seconds are required to transform the watch from a chic, glamourous look to that of a sporty urban watch – without shedding its diamonds.
Each finish is designed to nurture this contemporary elegance. The three-link steel strap alternates matte and glossy finishes in classic Frederique Constant style. The strap is secured by means of a pin buckle elegantly decorated with the Frederique Constant coat-of-arms. Like the dial, the case sports alternating brushed and polished surfaces to create an elegant interplay of light. By contrast, its sapphire crystal is glareproof, ensuring perfect readability in all circumstances.
The watch’s caseback reveals the automatic movement powering the piece: the FC-303 caliber, finely decorated with a spiral motif and providing a 38-hour power reserve. First launched in 1999, the Highlife collection has made its mark on the history of Frederique Constant, embodying the values that have
contributed to the firm’s success: the best in watchmaking design true to the canons of Swiss fine watchmaking, high-level finishings, and careful attention to detail – all at affordable prices.
