Change the front door

An easy DIY paint job or a door thrifted from the estate markets can change the entire persona of your home. If you live in a period property that has its old charms and architecture still intact, try to restore the original doors to how they used to be or thrift/ buy one that is closest to the period your house belongs to. This will help in maintaining the look and character of your house while still adding your touch to it. If you live in a community that has similar home exteriors, try to match your door colour as closely as you can to the colour scheme of the community. If you are looking for door colours, consider the message you want to convey- blue and lilac are associated with calm and prosperity (hence their fame) whereas black and grey are for elegance and exclusivity. Depending on what you wish to convey, your door colours can change.

Focus on the walls

One of the easiest and cheapest ways to update your home exterior design is by repainting the walls- making them feel and look new. There are different ways you paint your walls to give different effects. Chip colour. For example, it appears darker when painted on the outside than what it did in the sample so it's always a good idea to sample your paint before taking up the job. On the other hand, if your exteriors have popcorn style stucco, the paint will look darker than what it will on a plain surface like the bricks or the wood.
