This summer, pirate ships will be returning to Skamania Lodge, a Destination Hotel, to give guests the opportunity to cruise the Columbia River like a true buccaneer. One 18th century tall ship replica and one interpretation of a typical early 19th century trading vessel from the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport Authority, Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain, will set sail twice daily for two hour voyages on Thursday, July 16 and Friday, July 17, with pirate lovers on board. The ships will depart from the Port of Skamania County, which is just minutes from the Cascadian-style lodge and 45 miles east ofPortland, Ore.

Guests can climb aboard either ship for the first sail, which will provide a leisurely cruise on the scenic Columbia River. Those looking for a little more excitement on the high seas can board the second sailing for a staged battle between the two ships, complete with earth-shaking cannon blasts.

The tall ships provide a true representation of America's maritime history, with demonstrations of tall ship handling, sea shanty singing and maritime storytelling that's fun for both children and adults. Lady Washington is a traditionally built replica that has appeared in movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and the popular television show Once Upon a Time. Hawaiian Chieftain was originally designed and built in Hawaii for cargo trade and inspired by colonial passenger boats. Pirate and history enthusiasts alike are sure to enjoy this unique opportunity to take to the seas in true Blackbeard style.
