Donna Leah has always had a passion for fashion and design. In her childhood, the designer and founder of Donna Leah Designs, recalls how she would sketch styles that she dreamed of wearing one day.   After attending New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology, Donna Leah launched her namesake custom gowns and chic casual wear in The Magic City, Miami.

This season, Donna Leah Designs is all about happy hues and textures that offer sophisticated details, in designs that are customized to the wearer. People are attending long awaited get-togethers and parties with friends and family, poolside celebrations, dinners at favorite restaurants, and vacations at luxury resorts.  Each event can be attended in the standard little black dress, or the event can be taken to a new level with a custom piece that is as unique as the person that wears it.

Women are gravitating to custom clothing this season more than ever because the garments are universally flattering, often one-of-a kind, and make excellent investments.  Donna Leah understands that when a person loves what they are wearing, they have a renewed sense of empowerment.  They feel that they can take on a room and shine their brightest.  The designer expresses her hope that women will experiment with colors and patterns.  Fashion is a way to express who you are and your attitude about life. People shouldn’t settle for something that is just okay. They should be passionate about what they wear and how they will feel at the event that they are going to.

Also this season, Donna Leah Designs is experimenting with fabrics that offer shine in colors that make us feel refreshed.  She feels that colors have the power to change our mood and the season’s warm weather has been inspiring.  Pieces in her latest creation are in a luxurious lavender. The color is known to represent devotion, serenity, grace and calmness.  The two-piece sets, worn in monochromatic looks, are bold and sophisticated.  When designing these pieces, special attention was paid to the collar, sleeves and shape of the jacket. 

Look Unique in a Custom Piece

There’s a limit to how much of a person can be reflected in off the rack purchases. Custom clothing allows a person to fully bring out their individuality. They key to creating a unique look is to embrace color. For too long, women have gravitated to black because they thought it was slimming or it was an easy option.  Donna Leah believes that women should experiment with color, patterns and fabric because it is the best way to stand out and get noticed. We know that colors symbolize different things in gemstones and flowers, like love, friendship, and kindness. This too should be translated into the colors that we wear.


Feel empowered with fine details

Clothing should talk and can communicate words of awe and confidence. Often people do not see the specific details, but they know what they like. Usually, that burst of excitement comes from the details that were inspired by the designer. For Donna Leah, that is often from nature and her surroundings like the foliage and stunning Miami sunsets.
