The Dynami Foundation has curated a list of trailblazing culture makers to join together for Breast Cancer Awareness in Detroit. In its 8th year, the foundation's Uncork for a Cure event is bringing together the healing power of art and food to curate pieces of work and provide sustenance for a cause. The fundraising event has raised over two million dollars over the years and impacted groundbreaking new research in support of lobular breast cancer through their partnership with University of Michigan's Rogel Cancer Center, University of PIttsburgh Medical Center, University of Colorado, and Karmanos Cancer Institute.

Breast cancer survivor and Dynami founder, Flora Migyanka, is paving the way to bring culture and the community together with physicians and field experts, to drive expanded research for a cure to lobular breast cancer which accounts for 15% of all breast cancers yet only receives 1% of research funding. Joined by cousin, Master Sommelier Madeline Triffon of Plum Market, whose mother was also impacted by breast cancer, they'll be pairing wine with award-winning food from local Detroit chefs:

  • Barda
  • Bar Pigalle
  • Basan
  • Brine Oyster House
  • Cantoro Italian Market
  • Chartreuse
  • Grey Ghost
  • Lena
  • Leila/Phoenicia
  • Mabel Gray
  • Marrow
  • Motor City Seafood
  • Oak & Reel
  • Selden Standard
  • SheWolf
  • Takoi
  • The Apparatus Room

"From the beginning–back when Uncork for a Cure was at Bacco Ristorante–I've been honored to support such a meaningful cause and an organization that's making a real difference in the fight against lobular breast cancer. Flora is a force and I'm proud to be a part of all that Dynami does," said Anthony Lombardo, executive chef and co-owner of SheWolf Pastificio & Bar.

Artwork curated by Mary Wysocki of Paragon Art Collective will be unveiled at the event from local and international artists. Mike Han–whose mother and grandmother are breast cancer survivors–will be back for another year auctioning off a piece of his work in honor of breast cancer awareness. Local artists Eric "El Cappy" Lowry, Amelia CurrierTakeisha Jefferson, and others will join Mike Han to support the research and awareness for lobular breast cancer.

"Believing in the power of advocacy rooted in compassion, I dedicate myself to causes beyond my own sphere. For my children, friends, and family, I strive to make a difference. This initiative holds profound significance for me. Having undergone two breast surgeries and with my paternal grandmother's battle with breast cancer, I grasp the gravity of accessible resources and clear communication within this realm. My heart propels me to advocate, ensuring that essential support is within reach for all. This commitment is an extension of my artistic vision, transcending my photography to touch lives in tangible ways. It stands as a living example for my children, demonstrating the boundless impact one person's heart can have on the world," says artist Takeisha Jefferson.

Uncork for a Cure has recently supported never-before-seen opportunities to monitor lobular breast cancer's recurrence and propel new detection of cell transformation as well as biomarker research, and cutting edge research to combat cancer cells' tendency to mutate which otherwise makes them resistant to treatment among many other initiatives that are underway.

"For Uncork for a Cure to be in its 8th year now–while raising over $2 million for research–is incredible. And yet, we still have a long way to go to continue to fight lobular breast cancer. I'm so thankful to these incredible and award-winning artists, chefs, and sommeliers. They are standing with me as partners to raise awareness, and bring our community together, to fight for a cure," says Dynami founder and breast cancer survivor, Flora Migyanka
