From yurts with king-sized beds to backstage champagne bars, there are many ways in which you can turn a rugged summer festival into a luxury experience. This added comfort and sophistication comes at an added price, but given the already high cost of today’s summer festival tickets, why not spend a little extra and enjoy some more treats? Below are just a few ways to start festival-ing like a VIP.

 

Upgrade your accommodation

Forget about cramped tents and cold hard ground. Festivals like Glastonbury now have glamping options that involve pre-assembled spacious yurts with proper beds, high-end bedding and power outlets. In these glamping areas, you also typically get access to restrooms with flushing toilets, pamper rooms and 24-hour showers. If this isn’t luxurious enough, why not consider looking into local off-site hotels? You’ll get your own private bathroom and it will be less noisy. Some may even be able to offer shuttle buses or private taxis to and from the festival site (you could even look into concierge services provided by festivals themselves). 

 

Look into gourmet food and drink choices

Festival grub typically involves burgers and tacos, but many festivals have upscale options. This may include stalls serving wood-fire pizzas, grilled meats and exquisite vegan dishes prepared by professional chefs. Some festivals have these in their main area, while others may require you to buy tickets to a VIP area to unlock access to them. These VIP areas may also have access to queueless bars, which may serve fancy wines, special cocktails and other drinks unavailable to regular festival ticketholders. 

 

Level up your fashion choices

Comfort is key when choosing festival attire, but you can also look glamorous in the process. These tend to draw a much smaller crowd, but still attract big performers, making them feel more intimate. Not all of these festivals run on an annual basis - many are one-off festivals that may not be widely advertised. By searching for ‘boutique festivals’ and ‘premium festivals’ you can usually find such upcoming events. Find one that matches your passions and secure tickets early.
