In 2016, we did something no watchmaker had done before. We decided to take responsibility for every Linde Werdelin in existence — not only the watches we were making that year, but all of them, going back to the very first in 2007.
  
It was, at the time, a quietly controversial thing to do. The received wisdom was that a brand sold new watches to new customers and left the rest to the open market, essentially forgetting about clients once they had bought a piece.
  
2016 was a time in our industry where online pre-owned platforms proliferated – Chrono24, Watchfinder and so forth - and quickly changed the market for pricing as well as supply and demand for new pieces. Simultaneously, the perception of buying a pre-owned piece also changed from being seen as not being able to afford a proper new watch to being quite clever.
  
So we built Linde Werdelin Pre-Owned to engage and to create trust with our clients throughout the lifetime of them owning a Linde Werdelin: the first certified pre-owned and authentication programme of its kind in the industry.
