The Sky3 apartment community in downtown Portland announces it achieved LEED Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

The use of recycled materials is abundant at Sky3, from the distinctive reclaimed wood paneling in the lobby to an intricate metal sculpture by local artist Ivan McLean that redirects stormwater into planters.
"The sphere within a sphere is a new design from our studio," says McLean, whose private and public works are popular in Portland. "The contrast in size and finish is eye-catching, and hopefully, the spheres will draw attention to the bioswales and the importance of taking care of stormwater." A bioswale is a retention area designed to capture water and infiltrate the ground slowly. The sculpture works in conjunction with drought-tolerant landscaping and a drip irrigation system.
Sustainable features in the apartment units include large double-pane, low E, insulated windows that provide natural light, high-efficiency systems for lighting and mechanical (HVAC), water-efficient fixtures and Energy Star appliances. There is preferred parking for electric vehicles, and there are recycling facilities on-site for residents. Low VOC emitting materials were used during construction, and construction waste was safely recycled, reused and disposed of accordingly. Sky3 is a smoke-free community.
Located at 1221 SW 11th Avenue, Sky3 offers 196 apartment units, innovative amenities for active lifestyles, shared social spaces, and 14,500 square feet of ground-floor retail space. Retail tenants are Coava Coffee, Amazon and coming soon is Karam, a Mediterranean restaurant. Sky3 is developed by The Molasky Group and managed by Avenue5.
The community offers studios, one- and two-bedroom floor plans and penthouse units ranging in size from 518 to 1,416 square feet.
