Niner Wine Estates has awarded organizations in San Luis Obispo County with money to fund local projects. The company focuses on supporting organizations that directly support the local community and reflect its own business philosophies. In 2016 these organizations included GleanSLO and must! Charities, both of which serve San Luis Obispo County residents.
Over the last two years Niner Wine Estates has put over $55,000 back into the local Paso Robles community through their community outreach program.
"Two years ago we fundamentally changed how we approached philanthropy," says owner Andy Niner. He continued, "At the time we were taking a passive approach and responding to the many requests we would get for 1-2 bottles which made us question if we were being impactful. Now we carefully choose organizations in our community that are leaders and we actively seek to give more substantial donations."
The donation to must! Charities helps specific North County organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Food Bank Coalition Children's Farmers Markets and the Boys & Girls Club. The GleanSLO donation went directly into funding the organization's new storage shed which was much needed as they harvested their 1 millionth pound of produce in 2016.
"Niner Wine Estates shares our passion for giving back to the community and fully utilizing food that is grown locally to feed those in need," says Jen Miller, Director of Programs at the Food Bank Coalition. "We couldn't be more grateful for their partnership."
