Private jet charters are expected to see strong early booking activity ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as ultra-high-net-worth travellers look to avoid TSA lines (Transportation Security Administration) by using FBOs (Fixed-Base Operator) and private terminals. Industry forecasts suggest demand could surge by 200% to 300% on key host-city routes during peak match periods.

The 2026 tournament is widely expected to become North America’s top private aviation event of the decade. Based on historical travel patterns around major global sporting events, traffic spikes of more than 170% have been seen at host airports, and operators such as The Jet Collections are already reporting high interest in private jet flights for the knockout rounds and the July 19 final game.

With six million visitors expected across 16 host cities, availability for aircraft, airport slots, and ground handling is likely to tighten significantly as the event approaches.

“Charter planners are being encouraged to reserve well in advance, particularly for multi-city itineraries and high-demand match days,” confirms The Jet Collection team.

Round-trip charter pricing between host cities is expected to range from $15,000 to $60,000, depending on aircraft type and distance. During periods of exceptional demand, special-event FBO parking fees can exceed $30,000, adding further pressure to capacity and operating costs.

Aircraft availability may also be constrained by ramp space and airport restrictions. Ultra-long-range jets such as the Global 7500 require approximately 11,500 square feet of ramp space, while airports such as Teterboro operate with a 100,000-pound weight limit that excludes many larger aircraft.

Empty-leg opportunities may emerge during the tournament, with some operators offering discounts of up to 75% on repositioning flights. However, itineraries are expected to be highly route-specific, as demand will not be evenly distributed across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

For travellers planning multi-leg World Cup itineraries, customs arrangements, repositioning costs, and aircraft scheduling will likely become central considerations. Early planning is expected to be essential for securing preferred aircraft and routing during the busiest match periods.
