Gdańsk, Poland — Sunreef Yachts, the global leader in eco-luxury catamarans, is setting a new course for the future of sustainable yachting a deeper insight into its NEXT design philosophy. More than a model update, Sunreef NEXT is a comprehensive rethinking of luxury at sea—fusing cutting-edge eco-technologies with lifestyle-driven design and smart functionality. It marks a turning point not just for the brand, but for the entire yachting industry.
A Vision Rooted in Freedom, Form, and Function
At the heart of NEXT lies a bold reimagining of the onboard experience. Developed in response to evolving client lifestyles and informed by over two decades of shipbuilding expertise, the NEXT concept reshapes the layout, ambiance, and usability of every space on board.
From the flybridge to the bow, and from the salon to the waterline, all living areas have been reconsidered with freedom and flow in mind. The expansive flybridge now features a flush, modular design that transforms with purpose—ideal for entertaining, sunbathing, or relaxation. A fully reimagined bow terrace offers customizable configurations including trampolines or integrated sunpads.
Below, the Ocean Lounge—a fold-out private beach club with direct sea access—was once reserved for superyachts. Today, it's available across Sunreef’s 60-, 70-, and 80-foot models. “We’ve taken the best of our 100-foot catamarans and made it part of our core lineup,” says Francis Lapp, Founder and President of Sunreef Yachts.
Eco-Innovation at Every Level
NEXT represents Sunreef’s most ambitious leap in green technology to date. Central to this is the integration of Solar Skin 3.0, an advanced solar power solution that merges high-output photovoltaic performance with seamless aesthetic design. The new generation of Sunreef’s proprietary solar panels is built directly into the hull and superstructure—featuring a sleek, jet-black strip design with no aluminum frames.
“Six years ago, solar was an add-on. Today, it’s part of the DNA of the yacht. Solar Skin 3.0 is clean, powerful, and seamless, explains Lapp. AI-driven optimization ensures peak performance across seasons and latitudes.
Complementing the solar upgrade are new-generation battery systems designed for maximum efficiency and durability. With enhanced chemistries, these batteries support longer voyages, faster recharging, and a dramatically reduced environmental footprint.
The Future Is Teak-Free
Sunreef is also pushing sustainability beyond power systems. NEXT models phase out traditional teak decking—long a hallmark of yacht design—in favor of sustainable, durable alternatives that preserve forests and deliver equally luxurious finishes. “We want materials that are regenerative, not extractive,” says Lapp. “That means thinking differently about beauty and longevity.”
A New Era in Yacht Interiors
Inside, Sunreef NEXT introduces a lighter, more spacious, and organically inspired design language. Floor plans are flowing and flexible, with natural light prioritized throughout. Interiors take cues from coastal nature—soft textures, muted tones, and sustainable materials create a calming, sophisticated atmosphere.
Master suites are now larger and can include freestanding bathtubs—a rare luxury for yachts under 100 feet. Customization is deeper than ever: layouts are now commonly adapted for family living, including children’s rooms with bunk beds, fitness zones, spa-style bathrooms, and private workspaces.
“Clients told us what they wanted: more light, more nature, more space to live. So that’s exactly what we designed,” says Artur Poloczanski, Head of PR at Sunreef Yachts. All NEXT interiors are designed in-house, ensuring a meticulous fit between personal taste and technical precision.
Redefining Luxury: Discreet, Immersive, Intelligent
The NEXT philosophy reflects a wider cultural shift in what luxury means. Today’s yacht owners prioritize serenity over showmanship. They seek connection, not consumption—favoring vessels that offer immersive, off-grid experiences over speed and spectacle.
“Ten years ago, clients asked about horsepower. Now, they ask about solar panels, noise levels, and sustainability,” notes Lapp. “Luxury has become quieter. It’s about presence, wellness, and shared time on board.”
Superyacht Technology
Sunreef’s NEXT initiative also democratizes technologies traditionally reserved for the superyacht segment. Fold-out terraces, invisible garages, hydraulic swim platforms, and tender docks are now integrated across the 60- to 80-foot lines. The once-exclusive Ocean Lounge is now standard.
Meanwhile, the company is building three 43-meter electric sailing catamarans—each fitted with solar power and performance-ready sails. These vessels mark the next chapter in clean superyachting: massive interior volumes, zero-emissions propulsion, and whisper-quiet operation.
“If your mental image of a superyacht is a towering white monohull, it’s time to update that image.” says Lapp. “This is a superyacht redefined—with solar panels, space to breathe, and silence at sea.”
A new design based on clients feedback and Sunreef’s rich experience
NEXT is not just a top-down initiative; it’s a direct response to what Sunreef owners have asked for. Clients increasingly want livable luxury: adaptable layouts, serene atmospheres, and smarter, more efficient systems that align with their values and family life.
“They used to ask for something bold. Now, they ask for something timeless—something they’ll enjoy ten years from now,” says Lapp. “NEXT is about building for the way people actually live.”
Trusted by Icons
Sunreef catamarans are chosen by some of the world’s most discerning yacht owners—including tennis champion Rafael Nadal, F1 legend Fernando Alonso, and other high-profile clients whose identities remain private. These figures reflect the growing appeal of a yacht that balances discretion, innovation, and custom beauty.
NEXT Is Now
With NEXT, Sunreef Yachts doesn’t just upgrade its product line—it redefines the very concept of a luxury catamaran. It represents a synthesis of engineering excellence, eco-innovation, and lifestyle elegance, all shaped by two decades of world-leading craftsmanship.
“Sunreef NEXT is the future of yachting—not years from now, but today,” concludes Francis Lapp. “It’s where luxury meets responsibility. And it’s only the beginning.”
