Last month the new state-of-the-art Headquarters of SOFAZ (the State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan) has been inaugurated in the presence of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
To celebrate the event, the CEO of Sofaz, Mr.Shahmar Movsumov entrusted Reuge to create a unique and memorable gift: a one of a kind music box representing the culture of Azerbaijan.
Well over one year of work went into the creation of this unique piece of Art. After initial meetings the team from Reuge together with the Lausanne based designer Eric Meyer went to Baku to fully apprehend the DNA of Azerbaijan, Sofaz and the President. True to Reuge's philosphy of ultimate luxury: it's about understanding fully the client, his emotions and concept. The result is simply stunning.
The design of the table makes reference to the traditional architecture, the design of the wood-inlay on the table shows the pattern of the "school of carpets" from the home region of the President (out of 9 different national heritage schools).
The large 144 note mechanical music movement plays not only the National Anthem of Azerbaijan but a total of 16 national melodies on 4 cylinders.
On top of the table, the national musical instruments (Tar, Kamanze and Qaval) have been re-produced (with additional secretly built-in smaller movements from Reuge).
Yet another proof that the 150 year old manufactory from Ste Croix has not only an excellent address book but captures very well the true meaning of unique pieces for unique clients. Kurt Kupper, CEO of Reuge, says: "In particular in a hostile economical environment we focus on in-depth service to offer the clients an unique experience while respecting his culture"
