Sterling Studios harnesses old-age techniques to interiors used especially for Palaces and contemporary materials creating spectacular finishes for interiors. Bespoke finishes can be used on furniture, walls, doors, or to create feature installations. Jewel-like metals and resins, embellished glass, gesso and leather and a huge variety of painted finishes and papers can be commissioned by international designers with both contemporary and classical vision.
Sterling Studios offer a myriad of techniques combining modern paints and resins in unexpected ways, from flat or raised to hand-painted, antiqued, printed and modern styles. Restoring antique leather rooms and creating reproduction leather paneling inspired Sterling Studios founders to create new techniques with which to raise, patinate and decorate leather and paper for ceilings, walls and furniture. Francois Lavenir and Fiona Sutcliffe combined as Founders in 2003, to build on their previous successes in antique restoration, design and painting. With backgrounds in antiques restoration, history and fine art, Sterling Studio’s bring new life to time-honored craftsmanship.

Modern machinery, CAD facilities and a large team housed in a 10,000+ square foot premises in London offer the ability to handle large or small projects to tight deadlines. Recent commissions include a reverse painted glass jungle scenes for Selfridges International Services, eglomise glass and walllpaper for a penthouse in Baku; murals in a London penthouse; chinoiserie style glass with birds and foliage, reverse painted and hand silvered for an orangery; antiqued gilt and lacquered screens in a modernist design; abstract glass mural in silvers, bronzes and textures for a large AV cabinet.
