At Geneva Watch Days, HAUTLENCE unveils two new models in its Vagabonde line: the Vagabonde Tourbillon Series 4 and the Vagabonde Tourbillon Series 5. These creations combine the wandering hours display with a flying tourbillon, offering a fresh perspective on how time can be read, felt, and experienced. This launch is accompanied by two installations by contemporary artist Via Lewandowsky, merging time with art. The two new timepieces are a vibrant addition to the Vagabonde collection. Set within HAUTLENCE’s signature rectangular case, the wandering hours travel across a central minute disc, while the flying tourbillon at six o’clock adds both visual depth and technical mastery. This dialogue between circular movement and linear form opens new possibilities for reimagining the wandering hours display. The dials, featuring geometric or organic patterns created through 3D printing, draw inspiration from contemporary architecture. They create a dynamic interplay of shapes and light, turning each passing moment into a constantly shifting composition.
THE HAUTLENCE SPIRIT From the very beginning, HAUTLENCE has sought to challenge the way time is displayed and understood. With the Vagabonde Tourbillon Series 4 & 5, the brand once again moves beyond conventional watchmaking codes, transforming time into an experience—both mechanical and poetic. The hypnotic portrayal of passing hours unfolds above three-dimensional and structured dials, framed by HAUTLENCE’s emblematic rectangular case. Water-resistant to 10 ATM, the steel cases are finished in a deep midnight blue PVD coating. Contrasting bright white details—the integrated rubber strap and the notched crown—accentuate the richness of textures and volumes, while ensuring wearability and comfort.
PERPETUAL KINETICS Driving the hour and minute discs as well as the tourbillon is the D30 automatic movement, visible through the sapphire display back. It features a bidirectional pawl winding mechanism to efficiently deliver a power reserve of at least 3 days. This manufacture calibre is equipped with a one-minute flying tourbillon fitted with a double hairspring in an open bar-shaped carriage, all expertly produced in-house by HAUTLENCE’s sister company, Precision Engineering AG.
AN ARTISTIC ECHO Determined to inspire a new way of thinking about time, HAUTLENCE has chosen to collaborate with an artist who raises the very same question: how can perception be reframed, and what deeper meaning can be found in the passing of hours? With this mindset, HAUTLENCE brings a touch of the art world into its Beau-Rivage suite, changing the frame works on the walls and presenting two installations by contemporary artist Via Lewandowsky, in collaboration with Gallery René Schmitt. The works echo HAUTLENCE’s philosophy: time has no meaning without context. While the watches give rhythm and structure to the passing hours, the art invites visitors to reflect on how we perceive and interpret them. Together, they form a dialogue between mechanics and meaning, horology and art.
