VITOLUPO furniture is a legacy of ancient cultures, excellent techniques and timeless styles. Precious materials such as Labradorite, Amethyst, Tiger Iron, Arapaima, Galuchat, are used to embellish tables and consoles, sideboards and bar furniture. Also the artifacts selected as “icons” – Il Castagno sofa, La Quercia sideboard, Il Sambuco coffee table, Il Gelso table, Il Mirto bar cabinet, L’Agrifoglio chair, Il Ciliegio bed - are unique pieces born from a sophisticated research process that combines advanced craftsmanship and high-quality materials with cutting-edge production technologies. VITOLUPO tells the “time” of the house exploring the different spaces: living room, dining room, bedroom.
Living Room
Upholstered in nubuck leather with decorative vertical stitching, Il Castagno sofa features a backrest in in plaited fabric. The outstanding feature of this upholstered set is the slat motif shown on the seat and the backrest. The wooden frame, which develops along the entire silhouette of the sofa, and the particular type of workmanship recall the deluxe details of the car design of great automotive brands. The base, also in wood, completes the stylistic picture and delivers a refined, valuable, and stylish product.
The main element of Il Mirto bar cabinet is the front niche, elegantly lined with brass foil, with the back panel in Tiger Iron semi-precious stone, reminds one of a tabernacle for storing an exquisite elixir. Opening the door panels, one is struck by an explosion of reflections and flashes of light that create an extraordinary scenic effect with surprise value.
The evocative image that gave rise to Il Sambuco coffee table is that of lilies floating on the surface of the water. The brass concentric circles recall the ripples of a stone dropped in the water and imbue the surface with glimmering gold reflections. The surface relief suggests thick Impressionist brushstrokes. The Labradorite inlays heighten the fascination of the object and, through their iridescence, generate chromatic effects that call to mind Monet’s celebrated water lilies. The smoked glass invites the gaze beyond the surface, in search of sunken treasures.
Dining Room
The particular shape of La Quercia sideboard endows it with a motion that projects its lines beyond the horizon of the surface and becomes one with the surrounding room. The use of such noble materials as Rosewood, Blue Erable, bronze castings, and semi-precious stones contributes to a unique emotional experience, obtained through admirable plays of light. The Erable in the electric blue colour is enhanced thanks to the illumination of the two side "bar caskets". The cabinet doors, with their unusual corner opening, enhance the wonder. The entire body of the sideboard rests on a cast bronze base, that adds lightness. The long handles on the central doors endow the sideboard with an absolute indivisibility of language. Finally, the entire top surface is enhanced by the inlaid Labradorite. The primary characteristic of this splendid material is the optical phenomenon of Labradorescence, which appears as shimmering of various colours typical of many Eastern cultures
The sculptural harmony of Il Gelso table in Calacatta Caldia marble or Nero Marquina, clearly shows the excellent craftsmanship used in its creation, from the stone carving to the settings for the glass and metal parts. The base, made up of three curved stone spirals, lends such a lightness and dynamism to the structure that seems to challenge the laws of gravity. The marble setting for the crystal tabletop exalts the contrasts between full/void, lightness/ heaviness, and endows the piece with a natural equilibrium. Notwithstanding its significant presence, this table allows the furniture and objects to interact harmoniously, since its helical shape involves the entire furnished space.
L’Agrifoglio chair combines fine woodworking skills with the craftsmanship of leather processing. The soft and enveloping forms lend the seat a harmony and a sensuality that make it pleasing to the eye and to the touch. The leatherwork was done by means of a sort of inlay technique, wrapping the leather around the wood framework, creating an actual second skin.
Bedroom
Il Ciliegio bed tells the mastery of the artisans involved in its creation. The shapes are enhanced by bronze castings and leather processing. As on the surface of a canvas, the seams are “painted” according to a harmonious and sensual design that develops over the entire headboard. The perimeter strips are covered with the same material as the headboard and are joined to the footboard by two small castbronze feet. The surfaces of the bedside tables, like two small painter’s palettes, further enhance the lightness of the headboard.
