Seven boats, 25 days, 3,700 kilometers! Flowers and applause to the brave sailors competing in the Shandong Port Fareast Cup International Regatta 2023!
On September 1, nearly 100 sailors from China, Russia, South Korea, the United States, Sweden, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Indonesia embarked on 7 boats and set out for the adventure in the Shandong Port Fareast Cup International Regatta 2023 in Qingdao, Shandong province.
Heading east and north, the fleet rode the waves and arrived at Vladivostok, Russia on September 10, coinciding the 2023 Eastern Economic Forum there. As a part of the Forum, the fleet received a warm welcome and the Qingdao organizing committee for the regatta was honored with "the best even-organizing award" by the Forum.
Staying there for three days for local activities, rest and reorganization, sailors reversed direction and started the return voyage to Qingdao on September 13.
On September 18, the fleet successfully docked in Mokpo, South Korea. Sailors explored the local dock and an art gallery and participated in a series of cultural exchange activities. The Qingdao organizing committee of the regatta was invited to attend a local economic event and made a speech.
Leaving Mokpo on September 22, the fleet returned to Qingdao on 25.
Over the course of this 25-day regatta, the bonds between ports, cities, organizations, and sailors from diverse nations were fortified, facilitating a vibrant exchange of cultures that bloomed along the wake of the sailing boats.
On the evening of September 26, the closing ceremony of the regatta was held in Qingdao. The Delo Group Sailing Team won the championship, while the Teyoo Investment Xiamen SailingIn Team from Fujian Province secured second place, and the Qingdao Sailing City Team earned a well-deserved third place.
Born in Qingdao in 2016, the Fareast Cup international regatta has brought its hometown plenty of international elements and vitality, and enhanced Qingdao's image as a sailing city. The event also served as a dynamic platform for the exchange of sports, art, culture, economy, tourism and business within the Northeast Asia region.
