World of Warcraft Forever is almost here, bringing players back to the familiar roads of vanilla Azeroth with a lot more to discover along the way.
If you are new to Classic WoW, or simply want to hit the ground running when Forever opens its doors, here are some useful tips to help you get started, level efficiently, and get the most out of Forever's new content.
Camping is one of Forever's new systems, turning the humble Cooking Fire into a proper campsite where adventurers can rest and use profession services.
You can place a Basic Campfire in the open world and have nearby players contribute profession-based objects to it. At first, a campsite can hold up to three special objects, with each player able to contribute one. Later Cooking upgrades can raise that limit to five and eventually ten.
Every profession brings its own campsite utility or buff, including:
Camp Tent (Leatherworking) increases your stored Rested XP up to 5% of a level;
Fish Bowl (Fishing) boosts all stats by 8%;
Enchanted Lute (Enchanting) increases stats, armor, and resistances;
Sharpening Wheel (Blacksmithing) buffs Strength;
Mana Well (Alchemy) provides Mana regeneration.
Leveling is a huge part of the Classic experience, and Forever gives you several ways to make that journey a little bit faster:
Rested Experience: Logging out in an inn or another rested area gradually builds up a pool of bonus XP. When you return, that rested bonus helps you get more XP gains from killing mobs.
Food: Crafted food grants increased XP from killing creatures. The effect is temporary, but you can easily stock up on ingredients, cook a batch, and refresh the buff whenever it wears off.
Cozy Sleeping Bag: Originally introduced in Season of Discovery, the Sleeping Bag returns in Forever as another source of bonus XP. Resting in it increases your XP gains by 1% per minute, up to 3%, with the full effect lasting for an hour. Getting it requires a short quest chain that starts in the Barrens for Horde players and Westfall for Alliance.
If you're looking for some early spending money, consider starting as a Skyborne, Forever's new playable race. During the beta, Skyborne characters have tended to come out of their first few levels with more silver than most other races. Their Zephras Isle starting zone is therefore a great way to try out the new race and area while giving your wallet a small head start.
Professions are another great way to build up your bankroll as a beginner. Mining + Herbalism is a classic early-game money-making combo, allowing you to easily gather materials along your normal leveling route. Herbs and ore are usually in high demand early on, as players stock up on reagents for new recipes and crafts, so you won't have any problem selling your stock. Alchemy is another strong gold-earner, since potions and other consumables are always needed for dungeons and raids.
And if you'd rather skip the grind altogether, you can always buy cheap WoW Forever gold at WowVendor and have it delivered straight to your character's mailbox in less than one hour.
With Forever's new Legacy System, you earn points by completing special challenges, most of which you can tackle naturally as you play. The points can be allocated into Legacy Trees to unlock useful perks and buffs. For example, the Well Rested talent increases Rested XP gains and raises the Rested XP cap; Luremaster gives you a chance to catch extra fish while using a lure, and Gourmand makes your food buffs last 33% longer.
Now, since we've covered the main points, let's quickly run through a few smaller tips that can make your journey through vanilla Azeroth a little smoother:
Enable Auto Loot: Turn it on in the Controls settings to pick up loot without an extra click after every kill. You can also rebind your loot key to whatever feels most comfortable.
Check racials when creating your character: Forever's reworked racial abilities have a more meaningful impact on gameplay. If you care about min-maxing or simply want to make a more informed choice, take a moment to read through the descriptions before picking your race.
Be selective with ability training: Gold in Classic disappears really quickly, so when it comes to training abilities, you should prioritize the ones you actually need. Class guides can help you figure out what to train first and what can wait.
Try using macros: Macros combine commands into a single button and can simplify everything from targeting mobs to using abilities more efficiently. Even a couple of simple ones can save plenty of clicks, especially when farming.
Keep your food and drinks upgraded: Stock up before heading out and replace them with higher-level versions as you progress. Better consumables mean faster recovery and less downtime between fights.
And finally, the most important tip of all: don't chase the perfect build or rush through leveling. Classic-style WoW is all about the journey, so take your time, explore, and enjoy every minute of your adventure.
