Write your memoir! Tell the world how you climbed the ladder to enjoy your luxury lifestyle.

If you’re reading this, then you enjoy (or aspire to) the luxury lifestyle. That means you’re a noteworthy person. You’re a person of achievement. People of achievement are admired and respected. They are often asked, “How did you succeed? What’s your secret?”

When was the last time you were asked that? What did you say? Maybe you tossed off some boilerplate comment like: “Put in the hours and work hard and you’ll make it.” Lots of people put in the hours and work hard and do not lead a luxury lifestyle.

Look, I’m one of those guys who needs to know how he, her or you succeeded. I read a lot of business biographies, everything from Sam Walton (Wal-Mart founder) to Elon Musk. I learn something important from all of them. But have I learned anything important from you? No. Because you haven’t told your story in a form that can benefit others, and in a form which assures you will be remembered.

Now you’re thinking: “Great. He wants to pitch me on writing my life story.” This is true. And I also know you’re thinking: “I don’t have time for this.” This is also true, I’m certain. But who’s asking you to sit down at your 1975 IBM Selectric and type? Here’s my idea. You keep working at building your career and money, and we’ll take care of writing your story.

We will impinge on your valuable time -- a little bit. After all, we do need you to tell us your story, and we can do this when you have some free time. We can interview you by phone, Zoom, Skype, FaceTime or any other method, say, for an hour at a time. As the conversations continue, the writer will round out your story. And no doubt that writer will go over areas previously covered, simply because the more of your story you tell, the more questions will occur to the writer.

Is this process going to be a royal pain in your backside? No. Why would it be? You’re telling the adventure of your life to someone who’s genuinely interested and who, obviously, wants to get it right. Accuracy is important. No doubt your story includes things that could prove useful. An example from Sam Walton:

Ol’ Sam came up with the idea for the Wal-Mart greeter. That person served two purposes: 1) To make customers feel welcome. 2) To prevent customers from walking out the door with unpaid merchandise. I read Sam’s memoir in the 1990s. His brilliant idea lit a bulb in my head. Here’s what I did with his idea:

I had a mail order business at the time. Some customers used stolen credit card info to buy our goods. This was many years before card security improved. We fulfilled the orders and of course at some point the real cardholders challenged the purchases and we lost money. Sam solved this problem. A couple of things to remember. First, if you’re going to steal, you’re not going to order small-dollar items. Second, bad guys don’t want you contacting them.

And so: I told my order-taking crew to modify how they accept orders over a certain dollar amount. We called the customer back. We thanked them for their order and we told them when it will ship. Customers loved it! It was just like being greeted at Wal-Mart by an enthusiastic employee.

That’s not all. I also told my crew to cancel the order if they reached an answering machine where a different name was mentioned, or if we did not get a call back within 24 hours. Or if the person answering doesn’t know the name we have on the credit card. Fraud dropped to zero and chargebacks disappeared. My sincere thanks to the late Sam W.

You are a luxury lifestyle individual. You have a success story to tell the world. People will read your book because they want to know what you know. They want to learn lessons they won’t find in college business courses, or in law or medical schools. When your story is published, you’ll have a new revenue stream to enjoy, not to mention wider recognition. And it’s a fun thing to do. If you merely aspire to a luxury lifestyle, remember Ghostwriters Central Inc.’s memoir writing services when you go yacht shopping.
