Bryce Canyon is one of the most intense places I have ever explored. X-Bryce was born from the wish to carry that sense of freedom and vastness out to sea.
It was not drawn on a blank page. Between 2014 and 2018 we lengthened and rebuilt two explorers, the 36-metre Zulu and the 41-metre Lady Jade, whose owners live on board most of the year. On both, the doors of the aft salon gave way to folding glass across the full beam, and the same ceiling and the same teak ran from inside to outside. The terrace became part of the room.
X-Bryce starts from there. Slender structural columns carry the loads, so the glass can be light and slide away. The interior is a loft on the sea: walls, floors and ceilings are built, while the furniture stays loose and moves with the life of the family on board.
A yacht is built to be lived from the inside, and to let you live the sea outside.
The film of X-Bryce, more renders and the technical data are on the project page.
