Though the brand as a whole is regarded by many as a luxury brand, it has managed to create an even more high-end class within its already highly respected list of offerings. The Maybach line is not just your regular Mercedes brand but the elite of the elite class.
In this article, we will be looking at the 2024 Mercedes Benz Maybach models and what we can expect from these latest additions. Stay with us as we explore the luxury world as offered by the Mercedes Benz company.
The brand carefully split its prestigious line into three classes – the S Class, the EQS and the GLS. Let’s quickly look at these classes.
The Maybach S-Class occupies an enviable position at the head of Mercedes Benz's lineup of sedans. This prestigious model comes in two trims – the S 580 and the S 680.
Powered by a V8 biturbo 4.0-liter engine with mild hybrid drive that churns out 496hp at 5,500 rpm with a torque of 516 lb.-ft. at 2k to 4k rpm, this luxury ride can take you from 0 to 60 mph in 4.7 seconds.
One important feature that we won't fail to mention is the Hybrid Integrated Starter-Generator. A 48-volt lithium battery supplies power to certain components in the car like the AC compressor and water pump.
This source can also generate power, independent of the combustion engine, adding additional power to the system. This innovation increases the overall performance of the car.
As you will expect from any Maybach brand, it offers pure luxury. Some of the features that come in the standard package include:
Aside from the above, you get optional features or upgrades like the E-Active body control, 4.5-degree rear axle steering, Night series design package and the executive rear seat package plus.
Just when you’re thinking it can’t get any better, in comes the S 680 4Matic, another level of the luxury from the Maybach Sedan lineup. The S 680 4Matic is a combo of power and luxury.
Under the hood, this machine packs a 6.0L handcrafted V12 biturbo engine. This 621 hp engine can achieve up to 5,500 rotations per minute and a torque of 664 lb-ft. All of these, combined with the 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission, will move this beast of a ride with a curb weight of 5,346 lbs., from 0 to 60 mph in about 4.5 seconds.
As with all Mercedes vehicles, safety is given priority. In addition to other safety features, it also includes active brake assist, car to X communication, Mercedes Benz emergency call and attention assist.
With Maybach, luxury is the new normal. In addition to the standard features listed for the S 580, the S 680 adds the MANUFAKTUR leather package and rear electric comfort doors which were both optional upgrades in the S 580.
Additional optional upgrades that can be requested for both the S 580 and the S 680 include:
You can see that both trims offer similar levels of luxury, especially if you take advantage of all the optional upgrades. The S 680 however, offers more power.
The Maybach GLS 600 SUV is as luxurious a brand as they come. While the Rolls-Royces and Bentleys will argue that the GLS is not a "true" luxury brand, the experience that it offers begs to differ.
While not costing as much as these other luxury brands, the GLS 600 SVU is luxurious, comfortable, and truly entertaining.
Under the hood you have a 4 liter, V8 biturbo engine with mild hybrid drive. With its 9G-TRONIC, 9-speed, automatic transmission system, it has an acceleration of 0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds.
To reduce weight and improve overall efficiency, it features the Integrated Starter-Generator which is powered by a 48 volts lithium battery and delivers power to previously belt-driven components like the water pump, compressor. The ISG also supports the operation of its ECO start/stop system which facilitates the fuel conservation and reduction in emissions.

The above just summarizes what the GLS 600 SUV offers. As with most things in life, the taste of the pudding is in the eating.
The last vehicle we will be looking at in this brief review is the Mercedes Maybach EQS 680 SUV. You can read the comprehensive review here: https://www.motortrend.com/.
Since we are not doing a full review here, we will quickly do a summary of its many features. Unlike with the brand’s other EV SUV, the Mercedes-EQ EQS 4Matic, where a third row provides additional sitting for two passengers, the EQS 680 SUV prioritizes luxury, removing the third-row seat to make room for a luxurious back seat arrangement.
Before we list its luxury features, let’s first take a look under the hood.
Under the hood, we find dual PSM (Permanently Excited Synchronous) electric motors that can deliver a combined power of about 649 hp. With its single-speed automatic transmission system, it will take the vehicle from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.1 seconds.
