Fancy exploring more of the UK? How about exploring captivating and enchanting hotels that have been designed by some of the best interior designers across the world, whilst you embark on some much needed rest? Champalimaud Design and Goddard Littlefair have created beautiful schemes for some of the most iconic and historical hotels in the UK, such as Gleneagles and Monkey Island Estate. Explore below!

Monkey Island Estate in Bray-On-Thames underwent a complete renovation by the award-winning New York based design studio Champalimaud Design, the designers behind some of the world's most notable and historic hotel redesigns. Set across seven acres, the restored Monkey Island Estate consists of 27 bedrooms and three deluxe suites by Champalimaud Design, the studio behind Gainsborough Bath Spa and Raffles Singapore.

"Our design is a very much a celebration and a tribute to the storied history of the island.  We’ve looked to the two original structures on the island, the Temple and Pavilion buildings, which were constructed by Charles Spencer, 3rd Duke of Marlborough in the late 1730s, as inspiration for design vocabulary, but more importantly their innate joyfulness" - Jon Kastl, a Partner at Champalimaud Design

Goddard Littlefair is delighted to have been involved in redesigning 35 luxury bedrooms and suites and linking corridors for one of the world’s – and certainly the UK’s – most famous hotels, The Gleneagles Hotel. Our inspiration for the room transformations came from seeing the hotel for the very first time; taking in its scale, presence, grandeur and location, with rolling Scottish hills and an amazing palette of natural colours in every direction.

Our design treatment is rich, varied and interesting with a clear narrative direction and strong connections to the location in terms of materials, colours and art. Guests feel connected to the past via the intrigue and interest of the antiques and art, but also encounter the highest standards of contemporary luxury wherever they look and whatever they touch.

The £25m, top-to-toe transformation of The Principal Edinburgh Charlotte Square, including a complete revamp of all the Grade II*-listed hotel’s public spaces, from the reception, lounges, ballroom and meeting rooms to the stunning new central ‘Garden’ all-day dining area, plus new bar and restaurant offer – BABA – along with the redesign of all 199 rooms and suites.

Like a cosmopolitan clubhouse, Goddard Littlefair's scheme is eclectic and intriguing and full of references to travel. The interior feel is plush and elegant, with interesting and varied furniture and tactile, high-quality fabrics, including richly-coloured velvets and leathers, all set within a series of stand-out individual spaces.
