Automobili Lamborghini Donates First North American Aventador to the Petersen Automotive Museum

Automobili Lamborghini has made a significant contribution to the Petersen Automotive Museum’s efforts to expand its collection of groundbreaking modern vehicles with the recent donation of a 2011 Aventador Coupè (Model Year 2012).

This historically significant car was the first Aventador in North America, introduced into the U.S. before the car’s existence was widely known, and was used for secret preview events in New York City, Miami and Los Angeles. Following the vehicle launch, the Aventador was used for Lamborghini PR and marketing activities, as well as service training, and has competed in multiple track events.

“Receiving a donation from a marque like Lamborghini is always a milestone moment for our museum. We are so grateful that they have supported our effort to grow our collection of significant vehicles from the past 25 years,” said Terry L. Karges, executive director of the Petersen Automotive Museum.

The Lamborghini Aventador immediately distinguished itself when it debuted in 2011, taking the helm as the brand’s flagship model following the Murciélago. Featuring Lamborghini’s iconic V12 engine and a brand-new carbon fiber monocoque, unprecedented in other models, the Aventador would go on to beat sales records of all other Lamborghini V12 models.

“The Lamborghini V12 is essential to the DNA of the brand. It's a symbol of Lamborghini's performance and engineering prowess, with a legacy of being at the heart of some of the most iconic supercars ever created. With our donation to the Petersen Automotive Museum, this Aventador has found a special home to be admired by auto enthusiasts and passionate fans of the brand,” remarked Andrea Baldi, CEO of Automobili Lamborghini Americas.
