Some people seek sun, some people seek peace, some people seek for a hideaway but are we really looking for what we need? The pace of life, constant stress related to work and living in busy polluted cities have created the urge to look for better quality of life amongst many. There are those people considering radical life changes and others have even thought of early retirement in order to move away from it all and change this vicious circle that is driving everybody to illness and constant unhappiness.

There is a place on earth where we can leave all that stress, city frenzy and illness behind. Located in the heart of Central America, Costa Rica offers pristine beaches and coastlines on the Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea, as well as fantastic nature reserves such as Guanacaste conservation area or La Amistad National Park which are part of UNESCO World Heritage.

Costa Rica has been one of the most politically and economically stable countries in Central America since its birth in the 19th century. The nation compares favourably to its regional neighbours in areas of human development, and it has used its landscapes of jungles, forests and coastlines to develop an international reputation for ecotourism. It is the highest ranked Latin American country in the 2016 World Happiness Index, the 2016 World’s Healthiest countries Bloomber Ranking and the Environmental Performance Index lead by Yale and Columbia Universities in collaboration with the Samuel Family Foundation, McCall McBain Foundation and the World Economic Forum.

But the great bit about this country is yet to be revealed. In 2004, National Geographic and one of its fellows Dan Buettner teamed up with the world’s best longevity researchers to identify pockets around the world where people live longer lives. In their research they identified 5 “Blue Zones” on the planet where people live past the 100’s and Nicoya Peninsula in Guanacaste and Puntarenas regions are one of these five hotspots. This incredible discovery is explained between other things to less stressful lives the inhabitants have gone through, carrying out active lifestyle having always done physical activities, to the higher compounds of calcium and magnesium in the water, having a plant based diet eating mostly fruits and vegetables from the area and being people of faith. These facts explain why Costa Rica spends in healthcare a ninth of what the United States spends on their healthcare and it is proven that they are more likely to reach the age of 90 in good health.
Costa Rica’s “Blue Zone” puts aside that theory that to be healthy you need to be rich and gives us hope to follow those steps in order to live a healthy and longer life.

It does sound like the perfect place and if you could combine this longevity paradise with your own luxury property overlooking the Pacific Ocean sunsets you are into a win win situation. Although, many of the country’s coastal areas are protected and are world heritage reserves, the chances of owning a coastal property in Costa Rica are very small.

The Latin American gallery, a High-end Property consultancy from Cheshire has an interesting proposition for those who are tempted with Costa Rica. Recently launched to the UK market, The Palms Residences in Playa Flamingo is a beautiful member-owned beachfront luxury villa community that combines the benefits of home ownership with the amenities, pampering service and conveniences of a resort hotel. This is the ultimate holiday experience, where you and your family can escape to your exotic ocean-side oasis and experience the culture, the nature and the adventure of colourful Costa Rica. TLAG offers weekly rentals from U$S 4550.- with concierge and housekeeping included in the price giving you the chance have a good taster of what is like to live the Costa Rican experience in luxury. Alejandro Romei from The Latin American Gallery says; ”Many owners have tried The Palms through the rental scheme, fell in love with this gorgeous part of the world and signed a reservation before leaving”.

Owning a holiday home – especially one in another country – has its advantages: It’s exotic, exciting, private and there when you want it. These are freehold deeded villas directly on the beach, something that is very difficult to obtain in Costa Rica. As Romei says; “Only a 3% of the country’s shoreline is privately owned making this a more sought after and exclusive investment with great projections for mid and long term capital growth.”

The ultimate in luxury, these freehold villas deliver the full flexibility you are looking for with the ability to live in this paradise year-round or to rent through exclusive luxury rental partners when you’re not there.

Each beachfront Villa is magnificently appointed with luxuriously comfortable furnishings that complement the natural surroundings, from floor-to-ceiling glass doors with breathtaking sunset views, to ultra-plush bedding, richly coloured native hardwood floors and inviting seating areas for your family to gather both inside and out. It also has two sumptuously furnished bedrooms that can be the envy of many having the best views of the beach and the infinity swimming pool. The kitchens are also fully equipped with granite worktops plus high quality appliances. The comfortable outdoor living terrace and upper level balcony are perfect for entertaining sipping nice tropical cocktails that can be prepared on site for you by the barman.

“ This is an opportunity for those who love luxury amenities and the peace and beauty of nature mixed together, creating the perfect synergy for resting in style or sharing with family and friends.” says Mr. Romei.

Arriving here it is easier than ever now as from last May, Thomson airways is departing weekly from Gatwick arriving at Liberia International Airport, just 40 minutes away from Playa Flamingo in Guanacaste region. British Airways has also launched a direct flight from Gatwick to San Jose International Airport. So if you want to be one of those privileged people owning a piece of the 3% private shoreline in Costa Rica and live passed the 100’s we believe we‘ve put you in the right direction.
