Over the weekend of 12 and 13 June at the historic Shelsley Walsh Hillclimb course, E-types of every description – the fast, the last, the famous, the first – are gathering in a not-to-be-missed celebration of the E-type’s 60th anniversary.

The event is set to be a remarkable reunion of the three E-types that starred at the Geneva launch in March 1961 – the car that wowed the crowds on the show stand as well as 77 RW and 9600 HP, the Roadster and Coupe that thrilled passengers on the test course outside.

Apart from the first production Roadster, Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust will also present WHP 205J, one of the earliest V12s, and HDU 55N, the very last E-type off the production line.

E-types of the celebrity sort will include FPL 660C, the Ex-Denis Jenkinson E-type; HMT 598B, aka The Dave Clark Five album cover car; and 848 CRY, the beautiful red survivor from The Italian Job.

E-type track stars will also be superbly represented by the unique E2A prototype that raced at Le Mans in 1960, and, as an absolute treat, the first two production E-types that took to the start line in 1961 at Oulton Park. The race-winning ECD 400 will be joined by the car that started life as BUY 1, and which morphed over time into the Lightweight E now known as 4 WPD.

Other racing machines of huge interest are the unique, Sami Klat-designed Low Drag Lightweight registered as 49 FXN along with the GTO-beating Ford Galaxie V8-engined Egal racer.

Central to the car displays at E-type 60 will be the E-type CatWalk, which will comprise one example of each Series 1, 2 and 3 body style.

With E-types of absolutely every persuasion on site, fans of this 1960’s icon will not be disappointed. As they say though, that’s not all! Special guests include that other motoring icon of the 1960s, the Mini. The event reunites John Fitzpatrick and the Broadspeed Mini he campaigned in the early ’60s.

The action-packed 1960s-themed weekend will feature everything from exciting racing action, star cars, demonstrations and celebrity appearances, to live music, op art, films, fashion and more!

There will also be more than 50 specialist exhibitors in the E-type 60 Shopping Village, providing a broad array of products and services.

Experienced motoring video producer and E-type 60 filming partner, Berlinetta Films, will be on hand to capture all the weekend action.

Advance tickets are £22 each, £25 on the gate. Children under 16 years enter for free.

“Hang on, lads – I’ve got a great idea”
The cult movie The Italian Job will be fondly remembered with a recreation of the robbery scene. The ‘getaway run’ will feature red, white and blue Mini Coopers, a coach, an Alfa police car – and, of course, completing the line-up, the original Jaguar E-type Roadster ‘848 CRY’, which played a starring role in THAT scene with a digger and a mountainside!

The High Tones to play at ‘Swinging 60s Shelsley’
As seen in Liverpool’s Cavern Club – the birthplace of the Beatles! The four-piece band The High Tones will pay homage to the fab groove of the greatest musical decade, performing countless hits from The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Monkees, Van Morrison, The Hollies and The Small Faces, to name a few. The show is guaranteed to take you on a magical, melodic journey through the Swinging Sixties.

In addition, there will be a fashion competition for the best and most authentic vintage outfit. Why not don that Mary Quant-inspired outfit or flower-power clothes, and visit the on-site hair salon and beautician for a period makeover!
