Taste Portugal London, the Portuguese Tourist Board’s gourmet initiative, is delighted to unveil its next event on Saturday 14th March at 7.30pm at 28°-50° Maddox Street, one of London’s most exclusive wine bars. For one night only, Chef Matteo Ferrantino will be heading up the kitchen and celebrating the historical influences that have shaped modern Portuguese cuisine, with Portugal’s Sommelier of the Year, Antonio Lopes and 28°-50°’s Head Sommelier, Caroline Brangé, choosing the wine pairing. Taste Portugal London is delighted to be collaborating with Wines of Portugal who have provided wines for the whole Taste Portugal programme.

Hailing from Italy, Matteo had been based in the Algarve for the last seven years at the two Michelin starred, Vila Joya, and is a proud ambassador of Portuguese cuisine. Speaking of his life in the Algarve, Matteo says ‘I have found what I like in my life: the food, the products... I seem to have found the right place for my tastes.” The menu Matteo has chosen for the 28°-50° evening represents the essence of Portuguese fusion cuisine combining traditional methods with contemporary twists highlighting fresh ingredients, strong flavours and beautiful presentation. The wine selection chosen by Antonio Lopes will emphasise and highlight the tastes experienced in each of Chef Matteo’s dishes.
