Manoir Hovey was named the #1 Resort & Inn in Canada in the Travel + Leisure World's Best Awards 2016; it was announced today. Situated on the shores of Lake Massawippi in Quebec's Eastern Townships region, the five-star resort is a member of Relais & Chateaux, the global fellowship of individually owned and operated luxury hotels and restaurants.

"We are honored to be named among the world's best by Travel+Leisure readers," said Jason Stafford, managing director of Manoir Hovey. "It's a testament to our staff, who are committed to providing excellent service and hospitality to make our guests feel welcome and cared for."

To celebrate the award, Manoir Hovey will give away a two-night stay in a luxury suite to one lucky couple in its #WorldsBestGetaway photo contest. The getaway will include round trip airfare and a private tour of some hidden gems in Quebec's Eastern Townships -- Gregorian chanting at the Abbey de St-Benoit-du-Lac; a tour and tasting at Domaine Bergeville, a producer of organic, sparkling wine; and cheese tasting at Fromagerie La Station, which produces some of the region's finest raw milk cheeses. Dinner at Manoir Hovey's Le Hatley restaurant and breakfast are also included.

From July 6 through August 31, entrants can post a photo of their favorite couples' getaway activity. They must follow @ManoirHovey on Instagram and use #WorldsBestGetaway in the caption. Each photo can only be entered once, but entrants can submit multiple photos. On September 14, Manoir Hovey will notify the winner by commenting on their winning photo within Instagram. The contest is open only to U.S. and Canada residents 18 and over.

Manoir Hovey is an ideal destination for couples, with its enchanting and romantic setting, impeccable service, exquisite cuisine, and recreational activities. The 37 rooms and suites are uniquely decorated in a fusion of traditional charm and contemporary elegance. Most have lake views, along with a combination of fireplaces, private balconies and therapeutic tubs. Built in 1900, the resort is modeled after George Washington's Mount Vernon home and is located 90 minutes from Montreal and 20 minutes from the Vermontborder. Guests enjoy numerous year-round activities, including fly-fishing, pontoon lake tours, kayaking, winter ice fishing, yoga, foraging tours and activities in its new teepee. Its restaurant, Le Hatley, offers some of the finest dining and culinary events in the region, with ambitious, terroir driven Quebeccuisine by Chef Francis Wolf.

The Travel+Leisure World's Best Awards rely on guest experiences. Hotel/resort rankings are based on readers' ratings of five characteristics: rooms/facilities, location, service, restaurants/food and value. The 2016 results will be featured in the August issue of the magazine, as well as on www.travelandleisure.com.
