Mellerio, the French bridal jewellery expert, revisits the tradition of engagement rings in a contemporary way and imagines new creations that break free from the classic codes of solitaire, magnified by an original artistic discipline: "finger tutting", and presented in an unprecedented digital campaign.

NEW COLLECTION

Three new creations complete the offer at 9, rue de la Paix, already renowned for the variety of its choice. Two of them are inspired by the latest Haute Joaillerie collections dedicated to the Borromean Islands, and present an original and recognizable design.

The first, Maglia, evokes the delicacy of the fishing nets of the Isola dei Pescatori collection (2019). Its delicate mesh reveals itself perfectly once the ring is fingered. The central diamond seems to float on a beaded gold mesh, as if by magic.

The second, Giardino, with its elegant and graceful style, is inspired by a drawing from the 1830s found in the House's archives, itself at the origin of a set from the Isola Madre Collection (2017). It is this characteristic motif of Mellerio, both intertwined and floral, that Laure-Isabelle wanted to transcribe in a contemporary way in this ring.

The third, Stresa, also pays homage to the Borromean Islands, but more generally to Italy and its characteristic gold work. It was designed with the aim of offering a model whose general silhouette stood out even more from the standard solitaire, and thus meet an increasing demand. A rounded appearance, like a rush whose gold is textured and worked in relief, faithful to the taste for volumes and materials of Laure-Isabelle Mellerio. Twists and gold pearls are intertwined among diamonds.

SIGNATURE RINGS

These 3 new creations join the many models of engagement rings from Mellerio, a must for choosing the jewel of one's life. Among them, five models are particularly acclaimed for their contemporary and timeless design: Mellerio M, Tulipe, Divine, Céleste and Mathilda. These frames enhance the chosen center stone and signify the identity of Mellerio.

Bridal Jewellery, Mellerio's great know-how

Whether it's sentimental jewelry so romantic (a date paved with diamonds on a bracelet, a hidden message in the choice of precious stones), a tiara worn on D-Day (like that of Queen Margherita of Italy in 1868), or the magnificent red enamel and diamond fan offered by Napoleon III to his dear Eugenie before marrying him in 1853, the engagement, marriage and love in general, were repeatedly celebrated thanks to a piece of jewelry acquired from Mellerio.

BESPOKE CREATIONS

If upcycling today resonates particularly with the current generation of engaged couples, it turns out that this is how the House has always worked. In fact, Mellerio accepts daily to create rings every day from precious stones already in the possession of its customers. These stones, most often transmitted in the family, contain a very strong sentimental value, at the heart of a new story in each generation.

They are often the starting point for a bespoke creation imagined by Laure-Isabelle Mellerio, an exercise that she particularly likes: "Personally, I always feel a particular emotion when I design an engagement ring, because it crystallizes a moment so much important of love, and there are always pretty stories around ...! Tailor-made has been at the heart of our business since 1613. Create according to the personality and taste of our customers, integrate their personal stories, adding a dose of extra magic and style, even if it is probably the most difficult exercise to do, that is our signature ”.

LA BAGUE AUX DOIGTS

Mellerio has chosen to express this singularity in a strong and offbeat way, with an unprecedented digital campaign for the House and a disruptive movie. This presents an original discipline, at the crossroads of different artistic expressions: "finger tutting".

This style of urban dance, derived from hip hop, consists of performing, only with the hands and fingers, figures inspired by hieroglyphs (it is from Tutankhamun that "tutting" takes its name). Perfect coordination, artistic rigor but also sensuality of the hand gestures (so important in the jewelry know-how too) are essential to achieve the desired result: to give the impression that these are bodies that dance.

Brice Larrieu ("Skorpion"), dancer and choreographer for Madonna, Taylor Swift, Kylie Minogue, Céline Dion, or Stromae, selected two dancers for the choreography "La Finger Ring" that he imagined for Mellerio:

- Lara Laquiz, who has collaborated with many sportswear brands (Nike, Reebok, Puma) but also more recently Balmain

- Bouzid Aït Atmane, founder of the "Géometrie Variable" group, which performs in France and abroad.

They interpret together a love story, from meeting to wedding proposal, to the sound of an original soundtrack created to measure, combining classic and modern references, the harpsichord to the beats of hip hop for example.
