Peninsula Papagayo, a 1,400-acre private club and resort community in northern Costa Rica, proudly announces the grand opening of Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve (pronounced NEK-ah-wee) – the first Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Central and South America and the eighth in the world. The property was developed by Mohari Hospitality and Gencom through a joint venture with The Athens Group as a development partner.

Nekajui, whose name derives from the indigenous word for 'lush garden,' embodies refined hospitality by integrating Costa Rica's natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and timeless luxury. Perched on a dramatic oceanfront bluff, Nekajui features 107 ocean-facing rooms, including suites, three luxury treetop tents, and 36 branded private residences, all offering breathtaking panoramic views.

SB Architects and Gensler led the architectural vision of the property, drawing inspiration from the grand haciendas of the Guanacaste Province where the resort is located. The Athens Group, a partner to both Mohari and Gencom, ensured that Nekajui's design and construction honor its natural surroundings.
