Frangipane flower comes from the tropics and sub-tropical America, but is now widespread in all mild climates, for its rare beauty and for its fine fragrance.
The Latin name of the plant originates from botanic Charles Plumier, who discovered the species. According to the legend, a prophet predicted that the French researcher would have to look for "a flower with the colours of the new moon and the fragrance above the soul”, to become rich.
Plumier travelled far and wide without ever finding anything. Near the island of Antigua, during a sail to the West Indies aboard the caravels of Columbus, he asked a woman, known for her wisdom, if she knew that flower. She said that to find the richness, he would have to go to a nearby church in a full moon night, get close to the branches of the vine next to the wall and shake its leaves.
The botanic followed strictly her suggestions and, having gone to the place indicated by the woman, he saw a small tree full of leaves. He shook it forcefully and tons of perfumed flowers dropped, glistening like gold coins.
Plumier discovered the Frangipane, but not only. Suddenly he realized what the real values of life were: the calm of the night, the sweet perfume of flowers and the magnificent of simply things.
