Sonoma Wine Country's Farmhouse Inn Has The Solution to Your Vacation Day Woes - Play Hooky

We all do it – every year we leave unused vacation days on the table, even though the experts tell us we'll be more productive and happier if we use them (source: Business InsiderOctober 2016). It's simple really: well-rested and content employees make better employees.  While our work-alcoholic side says that everything must be perfect and turned in early, our rational side knows that what doesn't happen today can certainly be accomplished tomorrow. With this in mind, the Farmhouse Inn in Sonoma's wine country has created a package that is ideal for the quick escape: Play Hooky.

The sun is out, there are no meetings on the calendar and the boss is away on a business trip… wine country is calling. Skip the office and head to the Farmhouse Inn, the ideal spot for a quick midweek getaway. The Play Hooky special offers guests 20% off on rooms, regardless of the number of nights. This special is available to book online, or guests can contact the hotel directly to check availability. For those looking to do a longer stay there is the new Wellness in Wine Country package; a partner package with the Farmhouse Inn and Meadowood Napa Valley.

Play Hooky is like a Band-Aid – it fixes an immediate problem but doesn't address any recurring problems. Travelers looking for a meaningful restart should consider the new Wellness in Wine Country package. It's a 4 night package, and you may have guessed this already from the title, it has a health and wellness focus.  Guests will have the ability to choose between 3 different versions of the package: Detox, Relax, Energize. The 4 night package starts at $6200 per couple and includes lodging, spa, activities, snacks and much more. The package is available for stays between April 1st and December 31st, 2017. Guests may contact either hotel to check availability.

In 2014, sibling-owners Catherine and Joe Bartolomei unveiled an $8 million property-wide renovation. Highlights of the redesign include nine new luxury guest rooms, a new farm-to-table spa and extensive landscaping throughout the property. The redesign's main goal was to create an atmosphere of cozy warmth and a true retreat within wine country. The rooms have a residential feel and that isn't an accident. The spa is an open-air wonder with soaring ceilings, stall doors and a welcoming fireplace in the lobby. Throughout the property, guests will find nooks to enjoy a glass of wine and their favorite book.

The praise for the newly renovated Farmhouse Inn continues to roll in, as does the coverage in major publications. Just recently the Farmhouse Inn was honored as the number one hotel in California on the 2015 and 2016 Travel + Leisure World's Best List. Other awards include Sunset Magazine's Travel Award for Best Wine Country Inn and one of Andrew Harper's Best Wine and Food Resort on the recently published Grand Award Winners list. Farmhouse Inn has also recently been recognized as the Best Culinary Experience by Virtuoso at their Best of the Best award ceremony (http://www.virtuoso.com/).

With two years of the completed expansion under their belts, owners Catherine and Joe Bartolomei aren't finished with improvements – the goal is to always keep pushing forward. They regularly task their team to think of ways to enhance the guest experience and deliver thoughtful hospitality. Farmhouse Inn continues to lead the charge as Sonoma's premier destination.
