Kick-starting summer with a body-sculpting bang, the glamorous Bodrum retreat, Kempinski Hotel Barbaros Bay, is now offering brand new masterclasses in Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) Yoga as well a handful of healing hydrotherapies. Aimed at core strengthening, body balance and total relaxation, the 5-star hotel has ensured that guests will stride into summer with newfound body confidence.

Following the success of their complimentary Candlelit Yoga and Mountain Meditation initiative, Kempinski Hotel Barbaros Bay has introduced SUP Yoga into its roster of cutting-edge fitness activities for the summer season; taking place in front of Barbarossa Beach, the hotel’s private facility. Strengthening the resort’s focus on wellness retreats and restorative stays, this new form of aquatic yoga led by SUP Yoga expert Naomi Altunsoy consists of a 30-minute warm-up, followed by a 60-minute masterclass while standing upon the paddle board.

Known for its rejuvenating, exhilarating and, of course, subsequent toning effects, SUP Yoga employs key poses and stretches to build upon core stability, release untapped muscle strength and master the art of stillness, while floating atop of the water’s edge. A dynamic yet relaxing activity, the body’s physical ability and balance are tested to extreme, whilst tranquil surroundings of the glistening Aegean waters provide a soothing setting to quiet the mind and enjoy relaxing yogic poses. An exclusive and focused activity, a maximum of four people will enjoy the SUP Yoga lessons at a time.

Intertwined with the resort’s emphasis on alternative aquatic therapies, resident wellness practitioner Deniz Susever has introduced healing hydrotherapies at the hotel to complement SUP Yoga. Beginning her journey in 1997, training in Rishikesh, India, Yoga Instructor and Vipassana Meditator, Deniz spent years honing a range of technical aquatic therapies. Offering a handful 45- 80 minute curative treatments such as Watsu – a form of aquatic Shiatsu massage – and Aquareflexo – aquatic acupressure and underwater reflexology – total rejuvenation  remains at the heart of the hotel’s core principles.

Aside from these new meditative offerings, Kempinski Hotel Barbaros Bay is the perfect place to unwind. Chill out with a cocktail or three on the Sublime Sundeck terrace or the hotel’s resident Silent Beach (no kids, boats & mobile phones) while watching the sun go down. For wellness addicts, the Spa is a heavenly sanctuary of calm, housing a heated indoor pool, sauna and two marble traditional Turkish Hammams showcasing traditional Ottoman glamour. With a selection of 24 suites and 149 bedrooms, the hotel offers beautifully appointed rooms for those looking to get away from it all.

* All levels of yogis are welcome for SUP Yoga from total beginners to advanced practitioners. SUP Yoga lessons cost 120 GBP per person (165 euro) and are offered on from 15th May – 30th September on Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 9.30am – 11.30am. Taking place at Barbarossa Beach, the hotel’s private beach, the SUP Yoga class consists of a maximum of four people. Swimwear and light yoga wear is advised; falling in the water is all part of the healing process!

Nightly rates at Kempinski Hotel Barbaros Bay start from £160 based on two sharing a double room on a B&B basis.
