Timeless Classics
There’s no better place than Blenheim Palace to enjoy some of the world’s most outstanding vehicles, and the Salon Privé Concours d’Elégance presented by Aviva is unrivalled. The UK’s only ICJAG judged Concours, it sees everything from precious relics of the Edwardian era to the most advanced supercars and concept vehicles. Competition is traditionally fierce and this year’s entrants include some rare treasures.
Headline cars include the sole-surviving Graber-bodied Alfa Romeo 6C 2300 B Mille Miglia, one of only four convertible 6Cs produced between 1938-39, and a 1955 Fiat 8V Berlinetta with Vignale body designed specifically for Mille Miglia, but completed just three weeks before that year’s race.
An impressive array of Rolls-Royce ‘drivers’ cars’ built for enthusiasts are also attending, with a 1933 Phantom II Continental Drophead, one of just 156 RHD cars and featuring a James Young body, alongside a 1929 Rolls-Royce 20 HP Three-Position Cabriolet by Windover. Originally ordered by the wife of a Rolls-Royce director and friend of Winston Churchill’s, ‘Jenny’ - due to its registration prefix ‘GEN’ - was from the model’s final year of production.
Other notable entrants include a 1922 Bentley 3 litre ‘EXP 4’ By Park Ward, a 1939 Lagonda V12 Rapide Drophead and a 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Gullwing.
As part of the event, themed gatherings of cars will allow Salon Privé’s guests to appreciate the more nuanced elements of automotive culture.
Citroën
Few car makers have innovated like Citroën and three pivotal models, which perfectly illustrate how far the historic French company has pushed automotive design and engineering, will be brought together on Blenheim’s South Lawn for guests to savour. The 1963 Citroën 2CV Sahara, 1971 Citroën SM Espace and Citroën DS 23 Pallas IE all encapsulate how the company employed lateral thinking when integrating complex and advanced features into cars that still feel special to this day.
Tribute to 75 Years of Ferrari
The final two days of Salon Privé will witness a unique celebration of Ferrari’s milestone anniversary. The ‘Tribute to 75 Years of Ferrari’ takes pride of place on His Grace the Duke of Marlborough's Croquet Lawn, showcasing a sensational timeline from the first ever Ferrari, right up to modern-day models. Star cars include one of only two Ferrari 275 GTB/4 S NART Spiders and the original Ferrari 365 P works team race prototype, which won 1965 Targa Florio and 1,000km Nürburgring.
Saturday’s Salon Privé Club Trophy presented by Lockton will feature over 100 of the very best classic and modern Ferraris in a private enclosure on the South Lawn of Blenheim Palace, while Sunday sees a very special parade as part of the ‘Live on the Drive’ Hill Sprint activity. A Ferrari line-up will be presented in chronological order, starting with the very first model to bear the famous name – a 125 S, which will be driven by Salon Privé Chairman, Andrew Bagley.
The Platinum Collection
This year, to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen’s 70th Jubilee, we have curated ‘The Platinum Collection’ display, featuring a selection of spectacular, as well as rare historic, platinum and silver-coloured motor cars of all ages. With iconic models from Aston Martin, Bugatti, Ferrari, Jaguar, Lamborghini, McLaren, Morgan, Porsche, Rolls-Royce and Wiesmann, it’s a truly sensational feature.
Highlights include not one, but two McLaren F1s - chassis 063 and 064 - demonstrating meticulous work carried out by MSO, the first official production Bugatti EB110 Super Sport, Chassis #01 ordered new by the Sultan of Brunei, and the only official Ferrari Testarossa Spider produced, a custom order in 1986 for the then Fiat Chairman, Gianni Agnelli.
Prodrive Legends Display
A welcome return to Salon Privé will be the Prodrive Rally Legends Display, showcasing some outstanding veterans from the British company’s competitive past, on the South Lawn of Blenheim Palace throughout the week.
Taking centre-stage will be the Prodrive Hunter, the world’s first all-terrain hypercar. Developed from the Bahrain Raid Xtreme competition car, and designed to be the fastest cross-country production car in the world, its 3.5-litre twin-turbo V6 engine has been retuned to boost power to more than 600 bhp.
Flanking the Hunter will be two displays: one side celebrating Prodrive’s success over the years in rallying, while the other marks its GT heritage. Rally stars will include the Porsche 911 SC RS, the Prodrive Subaru Legacy Group A, Subaru Impreza S9 WRC and the Prodrive Mini WRC, while racing cars will include the Le Mans Ferrari 550 GTS, Aston Martin Vantage GTE, as well as a collection of Astons from the DBRS9 to the latest GT3 spec Vantage.
Finishing the week in style, select Prodrive vehicles will take part in the ‘Live on the Drive’ dynamic action, as part of Salon Privé’s Classic & Supercar Day, including Colin McRae’s Subaru Impreza Group A car, the Prodrive Mini WRC and the Hunter Hypercar.
Modern thoroughbreds
A host of modern automotive brands will be showing their finest vehicles throughout Salon Privé, allowing guests to admire them at leisure. With debuts of some of the most exciting new cars, it’s the perfect opportunity to see some amazing machinery at close quarters.
Alpine
Alpine will be showing the recently revised A110 S, which provides performance, aerodynamics and outstanding handling derived from supercars.
Faithful to Alpine’s timeless principles of lightness, compactness and agility, the brand is steeped in motorsport heritage which is fully embraced in the modern era. Highly praised by motor journalists around the world, the A110 S on display combines 300 bhp with a seven-speed automatic gearbox capable of shifting gears in 260 milliseconds.
Aston Martin
The sensational Aston Martin Valhalla will be creating a stir at Salon Privé this year, with the hybrid supercar as the centrepiece of the marque’s display. It combines intense performance with pinpoint dynamics for unprecedented driver involvement and driving experience. It draws on expertise forged in Formula One to perfect the chassis, aerodynamics and electronics and create a technological tour de force.
The British company will also show the Aston Martin DBX707, the world’s most powerful luxury SUV. The leader in its segment, it provides a unique combination of blistering speed, supreme dynamics, unmistakable style and absolute luxury.
Bugatti
The Bugatti Chiron Sport is a breath-taking interpretation of the ultimate super sports car. Firmer chassis settings, sport focused suspension setup, and a host of lightweight components provide even sharper handling and greater agility than before.
Appearing with Bugatti Manchester, the Chiron Sport uses the fabled 8.0-litre 16-cylinder powerplant to mesmerising effect, delivering its 1,500 PS and 1,600 NM of torque with greater precision due to the car’s optimised rear axle differential and dynamic torque vectoring. Refined racing touches give the Bugatti a distinctive sporting character, and emphasize the blend of pure exhilaration with the Chiron Sport’s uniquely luxurious character.
Clive Sutton
Clive Sutton will present a spectrum of performance and luxury vehicles at Salon Privé. The specialist performance car creator and retailer will show its latest track-tuned Mustang, the CS850R alongside the bespoke luxury conversion of the LEVC London Taxi, plus the Superformance MkIII, which makes its European debut at the event.
Dallara
Famous for developing and producing the chassis used in prestigious race series, including Formula One, IndyCar, and GP3, Dallara is highly respected but the Stradale is the first time that the Italian manufacturer has fixed its name to a road-legal vehicle.
Appearing with UK distributor Joe Macari, the Dallara Stradale is a sports car that’s as exciting on the road as it is on the track. The chassis is comprised of a hollow carbon-fibre tub with a flat floor configuration, which contributes to the 820kg of downforce at top speed.
De Tomaso
Visitors will see the De Tomaso P72 make its Salon Privé event debut. Appearing with prestigious London dealer Joe Macari, this modern-day tribute to Peter Brock’s original P70 plays homage to the mid-Sixties sports racer - with just 72 examples built.
Created to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the De Tomaso brand, the P72 adheres to the foundational pillars of the marque - heritage, passion, racing and world-class performance. The first customer cars are due for delivery in early 2023.
DEUS Automobiles
Salon Privé will host the UK debut of the all-new, all-electric DEUS Automobiles Vayanne hypercar, hot on the heels of its appearance at Monterey Car Week and Pebble Beach.
Named as the most powerful pure electric hypercar in the world, the DEUS Vayanne has been designed, developed, and tested in conjunction with revered technical partners Italdesign and Williams Advanced Engineering; with both companies proudly supporting the Vayanne at Blenheim Palace.
ENGLER
The global debut of the new Engler Desat, the dramatic evolution of the Slovakian company’s Superquad concept, will also take place on the opening day of Salon Privé.
The brainchild of Victor Engler, founder of Engler Automotive Limited, the Desat is the culmination of his determination to engineer and build his own vehicle. Starting with a unique vision, combined with 30-years’ experience, the result is the world’s only Superquad vehicle - a ground-breaking machine with uncompromising performance and dynamics.
Ferrari
Tifosi will appreciate the Ferraris on show with Dick Lovett Swindon, as the dealer’s display will encompass the birth of the marque, as well as one of its latest creations.
From Ferrari’s own museum comes the 125 S, the first Ferrari-badged car, from 1947 which will not only take pride of place on the stand but will also star in Sunday’s ‘Live on the Drive’ action as part of the ‘Tribute to 75 Years of Ferrari’.
The origin of the species is joined by one of the Prancing Horse’s latest, the 296 GTB - the first Ferrari road car with rear-wheel drive plug-in (PHEV) hybrid architecture. With an exceptionally wide V6 design, it sees an internal combustion engine integrated with a single electric motor, affording the Ferrari 818 bhp and 0-62 mph acceleration time of 2.9 secs.
Hennessey
The new Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster is a $3 million open-top version of the acclaimed 1,817 bhp Venom F5. It shares the same 6.6-litre twin-turbocharged ‘Fury’ engine as its Coupe sibling and is engineered to exceed 300mph. As the world’s fastest and most powerful convertible, the Hennessey hypercar offers owners an unmatched automotive experience that presents driver and passenger with unfiltered, unobstructed, and unprecedented levels of performance.
JIA
Following its debut at Salon Privé London, the Hybrid Electric Chieftain will be at Blenheim. The latest reincarnated Range Rover Classic from JIA, this exceptional piece of engineering uses bespoke chassis upgrades to blend modern V8 power with an in-house designed and built EV solution. Not to be confused with a retro-fit EV package, this is a ground-up engineering exercise to bring the iconic Range Rover Classic fully up to date. So much so, the Chieftain is also available as a fully electric vehicle.
Also appearing will be the fabulous Interceptor R Supercharged Gen 2. With a 6.2-litre forced induction engine, generating 650 bhp, the thoroughly reimagined and reengineered car features an 8-speed automatic gearbox and bespoke interior.
Lamborghini
Delivering all the feel and technology of a race car in a road-legal model, the Lamborghini Huracán STO is on display with Lamborghini Birmingham. The STO uses exterior panels created from carbon fibre to save weight, while the advanced aerodynamics courtesy of Squadra Corse improve airflow efficiency by 37% and increase downforce by 53% over the Huracán Perormante.
If the STO is the most extreme Huracan yet, the new Huracán Tecnica offers something a little more pliant. Set to be the last series-produced Lamborghini powered by a V10 engine, the Tecnica comes with a less extreme aero package and a recalibrated version of the brand’s LDVI (Lamborghini Integrated Vehicle Dynamics) system.
The sensational 770 bhp Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae is the most powerful, naturally aspirated Aventador Lamborghini has ever produced, and will also be present. Only 350 coupés and 250 Roadsters will be built as the Aventador bloodline reaches its zenith before retirement.
Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations
The Range Rover SV Electric Hybrid will be showcased at Salon Privé Blenheim Palace. Combining the refinement of a six-cylinder Ingenium petrol engine with a 38.2kWh lithium-ion battery, the 510PS extended range plug-in electric hybrid (PHEV) model provides up to 69 miles (111km) of near-silent pure-electric driving.
The flagship Range Rover SV, created by the manufacturer’s Special Vehicle Operations division, offers an unprecedented array of personalisation options, which can incorporate one of two specially curated design themes. The SV Intrepid theme on the Tourmaline Brown Satin example at Salon Privé reflects a purposeful and dynamic character, with dark metal-plated exterior finishes and satin black ceramic interior touchpoints.
McLaren Automotive
The McLaren Artura heralds a new generation of the marque’s supercars. While its design language may not be a radical departure from predecessors, the real changes lie beneath its lightweight bodywork. It’s a significant step for the company and the starting of the next chapter in McLaren Automotive’s story.
Based around the new carbon fibre MCLA chassis, the Artura is a distillation of everything the company has learnt to date. The first McLaren to use a V6 engine, the cars new powerplant is joined by a new gearbox, new hybrid system, new electrical architecture, and even a new approach to interior functionality. The combined output of the hybrid system is 671 hp, and the eight-speed dual-clutch transmission means the car can sprint from 0-62 mph in 2.9 seconds.
Nardone Automotive
Creating a splash when released earlier this year, the Nardone Automotive Porsche 928 is the French company’s first vehicle and elevates the oft-overlooked 928 to hero status.
Taking the 1978 grand tourer as its starting point, Nardone carried out a series of changes to transform the car into a special and tailor-made GT. Modifications inside and out include decluttered lines and muscular fenders made almost entirely of composite materials, while the V8 gets a performance boost to an anticipated 400 and a six-speed manual gearbox and limited-slip differential are introduced.
Pagani
The modern Italian marque brings two iconic models to Salon Privé Blenheim, with both the Zonda and the Huayra appearing.
The hundredth and last Huayra Roadster ever built will be present, as the open-top hypercar with a 753 bhp, 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 from AMG takes its swansong at the palace.
Described by Horacio Pagani as the most complicated project the firm has ever undertaken, the car is even sharper and more aggressive than the acclaimed Huayra Coupé. Pagani’s infamous Zonda is also represented at Salon Privé, with the unique Zonda Oliver Evolution Roadster on display alongside a stunning example of the Zonda S 7.0.
Radical
Radical Motorsport celebrates 25 years at Salon Privé with a display on the lawns of the palace and a Hill Sprint demonstration on the Sunday. Renowned for its purpose-built race and road sports cars the British company will show the SR10 and SR3 XX models before the pair wow the crowd as part of the ‘Live on the Drive’ Hill Sprint.
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars
‘Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is delighted to return once again to Blenheim Palace for Salon Privé. Salon Privé is an important event in the luxury calendar, making it the perfect place for the Phantom Series II, the marque’s magnum opus, to make its UK public debut. We will also showcase a highly Bespoke Black Badge Ghost at the event. I look forward to meeting our esteemed clients, friends of the marque and media at this year’s gathering’
Boris Weletzky, Regional Director UK, Europe, Russia and Central Asia, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars
Viritech
The world's first hydrogen hypercar, the Apricale is a showcase of hydrogen technology. Styled by Pininfarina but developed by Viritech, the FCEV hydrogen powertrain delivers 1,000 bhp in a hypercar weighing under 1,000kg. Production is starting in 2024 with a limited run of only 25 cars.
The ambition to overcome all the compromises of zero-emission vehicles required Viritech’s engineers to completely reconsider how fuel cells and batteries function together. The car itself represents a revolution, as the only hypercar with a zero-emissions powertrain whose weight is the same as a petrol-powered equivalent. This means it’s half of the weight of some battery electric vehicle equivalents.
Style and Luxury
Salon Privé will have plenty to see and do in addition to the motoring attractions this year, with the Luxury Retail Village hosting some of the world’s finest luxury brands - including renowned British jeweller Boodles.
Those seeking recreational endeavours are catered for, with handcrafted art, guns and leather goods by Westley Richards & Co., retro gaming stations by The Creative Station Ltd, handmade luxury games by Geoffrey Parker and professional racing simulators by Axsim Racing.
Everything from Harley-Davidsons to Bell helicopters will be on display, alongside the first-class hospitality for which Salon Privé has long been renowned. Louis Pommery will flow and London Essence cocktail bars will offer exciting cocktails from NoMad, Louie and the Donovan Bar mixologists.
As the official business jet partner at Salon Privé - the first partnership venture of its kind in the automotive sector, Boeing Business Jets will be on hand all week. Bringing the best of commercial aviation, ultra-large cabin, long-range jets, into private air travel, Boeing Business Jets delivers to a global audience.
Inside the stunning and decadent Glass House, built specially for Salon Privé, guests can enjoy a truly memorable dining experience. Exemplary service paired with the finest food, wine and Pommery Champagne make this the gastronomic pinnacle of Salon Privé.
Please note that dining in the Glass House is now sold out for both Friday and Saturday, with only limited availability remaining on the Wednesday and Thursday of Salon Privé.
