Mecum Auctions, the world’s largest collector car auction company, will stage its premiere event in Denver June 26-27 at the Colorado Convention Center with 700 American muscle cars, classics, Corvettes, hot rods, Resto Mods and more expected to cross the auction block from an estimated 15 surrounding states.
Among the main attractions consigned for the Mecum Denver Auction is a 1969 Pontiac Trans Am Ram Air IV (Lot S114), one of just nine such automatic coupes produced and one of only two built with the rare column shifter. Originally sold new from Dodge City in Denver, a locally rooted and unrestored 1969 Dodge Super Bee 440 Six Pack (Lot S119) with 23,000 original miles, is also set to headline the auction. According to Muscle Car Enthusiast Magazine, this Butterscotch beauty with Black Bumblebee Stripe that has been stored in a garage for more than three decades is, “arguably the finest unrestored car of its type in existence.”
Another main attraction is a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible (Lot S89) in Matador Red equipped with the ultra-rare fuel-injected 283 CI engine mated to a desirable Powerglide transmission. A matching-numbers example built in Oakland, Calif., the rust-free car has just 27,080 original miles on its odometer.
The inaugural Mecum Denver auction is open to buyers, sellers and spectators. Bidder registration is $100 and includes admission for two for both auction days. General admission tickets are available at the gate for $20 per person, per day, and children 12 and younger receive complimentary admission. Doors open each day at 8 a.m. with the auction beginning daily at 10 a.m. NBC Sports Network will broadcast 12 hours of auction coverage including seven hours live, and a live stream of the entire auction will be presented at Mecum.com.
