A 10-case lot of the latest wine from VGS Chateau Potelle set a record for the highest barrel price ever at Auction Napa Valley 2018, surpassing the previous high by more than $40,000.

The record-setting wine, Fourmeaux 2016 Red Blend, sold for $114,300, or $952.50 per bottle (and $11,430 per case). The auction was held at Charles Krug Winery, St. Helena, California.

World-famous auction house Christie's have another world record to add to their growing total after selling a three-hundred-year-old bottle of wine for close to $40,000. Listed as the “oldest Madeira” in the world, the final hammer price far surpassed the estimate of $12,000 to $18,000.

This JCA & C Terrantez bottle was produced in 1715, a year in which a 5-year old Louis XV took to the throne.
